As big as Juve, Inter or Milan. Bigger...I don't know about that.
United and Real Madrid have certain things going for them.

Compared to the marketing of Roma at present date...they are terrible. Their brand is not really advertised outside Italy. I think Soros wants to build the Roma logo like the Man U, Juve logo. But, it has to start somewhere.
It would be nice for Roma to be linked with the same players as the bigger clubs. Soros has the money to compete, unlike the Sensi's.
I will miss Rosella though...she absolutely loves this club til death. Hope she manages to hang around.

The viola look like they want to break into the top 4 (although they have kept their salary cap, so they can survive as a UEFA cup team if they fail to qualify for CL next season), so Roma need investment, especially since Milan will inevitably return.
Also, I hope Soros does splash some cash. It will create an arm's race, so club's like Juve cant afford to be cheap anymore. It will benefit the league as well.

spot on jager , just the thing i would have posted.
well then its still quite here in roma, though every roman here is discussing it but thats just minor things compared to the big talking point, who will we sign.
well lets see where our take over talks end u.stocks are sure rising up but since its soros as we know he can make a a stock go up then in just a min he can lead to a total melt down just as he did in 97' wth the asean markets that lead to the economic crisis back then.

To be fair of the big Italian clubs Inter probably have the best website.
The Juventus one could be better.

Now, they are withdrawing their bid...this is nuts. I don't know what to believe.

Soros withdraws Roma interest
Thursday 29 May, 2008
Hungarian-born philanthropist George Soros is no longer interested in buying Roma, according to the American Press.
The 77-year-old, who is based in the United States, has been repeatedly linked with a move for the Giallorossi in recent months.
The Sensi family, who preside over Roma, has gone to great lengths to deny the existence of any bid for the club, despite rampant speculation.
The New York Post yesterday reported that Joe Tacopina, Soros' lawyer, is due in Rome this week to iron out a deal.
The New York Daily News has today, however, quoted Soros' spokesman as saying: “To a certain degree, Soros Fund Management is interested in Roma.
“But only as much as it is interested in hundreds of other businesses. In the end, a decision has been taken to withdraw from negotiations.
“Soros Fund Management is no longer thinking about this deal.”
Roma fans are believed to be angry about the uncertainty surrounding their club and its financial health.
Italpetroli, the Sensi-owned company which owns Roma, is £295m in debt.
Consob, the Italian Commission for Companies and the Stock Market, has recommended that the club be sold to manage the debt.

He was probably set up to hold the scarf, but Tacopina (Soros' lawyer) is in Rome.

Thanks for the pic Azzurri....ya, he was probably setup, but not even the Sensi's can dismiss reports of interest in purchasing the club now.

Here's some details on the situation involving Soros...
Quote:
Tacopina Blames Arab Bid For Soros-Roma Failure
New York lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, has revealed that Roma were on the verge of being sold to George Soros before a last minute offer from another company scuppered the deal.
The Sensi family were considering selling their club to the American businessman and a deal had been reached between the parties involved in the multi-million pound deal.
There were also reports of how Tacopina himself was interested in the club.
However, the lawyer reveals that he was just acting as an intermediary in the Roma-Soros deal and he tells of the reasons as to why the club ended up never being sold.
“I had made sure that Roma found the best buyer which was George Soros,” Tacopina told La Repubblica.
“He was the one who was supposed to buy the club, not me.
“The deal was all set to be done and dusted back in February for around €280m.
“Then, in April, when everything was supposed to be signed sealed and delivered, an Arab came out of nowhere and he was ready to buy Roma for €400m without any due diligence.
“That was just a…. anyway, that’s where the whole deal collapsed.”
A number of denials regarding the sale of the club were issued by Roma.
It seems as if the Arab bid was only made in order to make the share price of the club soar even further, leading the Soros to pull out.

I know...so, who brought in these Arabs??? My guess is Rosella did in order not to sell. But, i heard the Sensi's have one year left to pay the bank, so they have to sell by next year.
