The question is, how many of your players would actually make it into the starting lineup of a team like Man Utd?
Totti and De Rossi maybe, not much else though.
|
aquilani might, if he kicks out his temper and start focusing on a team play.
both posts are correct, roma do need some funds and at the same time we have a good squad but in todays competitive world wch the standards will rise higher a "good" squad wont make the cut, roma are lacking a bit.
we do produce moments of magic but we cant be consistent thats our main problem, and the root of that problem we dont just have enough depth besides that extra funds doesnt mean we go and get players only, the back room staff, facility and programs will get their share to.
our facilities are modern and good but still we will need to improve them to take them on par wth the top clubs.

But, that's the very reason why i admire this team. They do not have things handed to them on a silver platter and whatever success they achieve...is earned. I would love for Roma to be linked with the Ronaldinho's, RVN, Henry, Messi etc...But that's not going to happen. Instead, Roma have players like Ferrari, Tonetto, Cassetti, Brighi, Taddei....players that would not be good enough to even sit on the Man Utd bench....but are the type of players that defeated Man Utd last year at the Olimpico 2-1.
It comes down to experience...Roma lack the mentally ability to defeat quality teams in significant matches in Europe...but, that will come in time. The 7-1 match was the wake up call.

Roma’s holding company have confirmed an offer was made by a potential buyer, fuelling reports George Soros is on the verge of taking over.
The past few months have seen repeated rumours that American millionaire Soros was planning a takeover bid for the Giallorossi, though up until now they have been strongly denied.
However, today the official club website released a statement on the matter.
“Yesterday a representative given this charge by Compagnia Italpetroli S.p.a was visited by a representative of someone potentially interested in buying up the shares of AS Roma,” read the statement.
Italpetroli are the company founded in the 1960s by President Franco Sensi and are the majority shareholders in the side.
Although there are no specific names in the release, it is believed Soros is behind it and is preparing a massive investment to buy out the Sensi family.
He would pump the cash back into the team and the transfer kitty, creating a world beating squad for next season.
“I don’t know anything about it, so I will continue to act the way I always have,” commented Luciano Spalletti.
“The owners of this club worked hard to improve the team and give moments of great joy to the fans, so I think we will continue along this path and keep on planning.”

This looks like it will happen sooner, rather then later. From what i hear, Franco Sensi will remain honorary President of the club even after the take over.

I think Rosella should stay. The club was worth 230 mill Euros and has been offered 273 mill now.Massive hike in money. Also before taking down their shares in rome the club's stock rose by 12%.This is really great news.I hope the club is bought. Then we can battle the likes of Juve Inter and Milan on the transfer market making Serie A more competitive on paper.

well thus far its all about the "pros" of a take over, the "cons" how ever will follow suit.
i hope if the deal goes trough, we would not see the ugly scenes like at liverpool.now thats one of the cons of a take over.the club must ensure the future owners are committed and not looking for quick cash, besides they need to understand how a football club works since the rumored take over is non european.

Seems as if Roma are looking at some Arab dude who is reportedly offering double from what Soros is offering. Maybe just a ploy to get Soros to increase the offer.

nah, ive been hearing a lot of it here back in the peninsula after the sensi's openly admitted they are looking on the buy out option.and besides the arabs are known to have freaking alot of money.wth oil prices over the roof, picture the tons of crisp bills they have
some are suggesting it might be the DIC, wch is wth out doubt can even buy soros and his fortune.
this news kinda makes me feel valued as born roma fan, feels like a "girl being chased by 2 men haaha
any ways, lets hope what ever the result of this on going drama will not make us loose our integrity and all the hard work been put in to the club all this while.

These people do not seem like the greatest soccer minds around...but as long as they provide the financial support for the club thats all that matters.

Looks like this will become a reality soon...

Roma confirm Soros talks
Tuesday 22 April, 2008
Roma have now confirmed that Hungarian-born billionaire and philanthropist George Soros is interested in buying the club.
Italpetroli, the company which owns 67 per cent of the Giallorossi, yesterday denied having received a bid from any foreign investors.
But Roma have today released a statement acknowledging that: “An interview and exploratory meeting took place last week with a representative from Inner Circle Sports.”
According to the Italian Press, Steve Horowitz, Inner Circle Sports' Finance and Marketing Executive, was in Rome last week on Soros' behalf.
Corriere dello Sport claims another conference could be set-up next week between the two parties to further discuss an offer and the sale of Italpetroli's holding stake.
Italpetroli is said to be struggling to pay the interest on a loan taken out with the Italian bank Unicredit.
Meanwhile, Roma are thought to be planning to invest any extra income in Inter striker Hernan Crespo, who has reportedly fallen out with Nerazzurri Coach Roberto Mancini.
The former Lazio forward is said to favour a move back to the capital, as his wife Mari Pascuala is a Roman native.
