Default Official: Ludovic Giuly to PSG

Quote:
Giuly joins Roma Tuesday 17 July, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma will complete the signing of Barcelona winger Ludovic Giuly on Tuesday after reaching an agreement with the Blaugrana.

The Frenchman had been expected to move on this summer after being told he is not part of Coach Frank Rijkaard’s plans and the Giallorossi have seemingly won the race to sign the 31-year-old.

According to the latest reports in Italy, Giuly is already in Rome and is scheduled to meet with club officials today to finalise his personal terms before completing the switch from Spain.

The Coppa Italia winners have agreed to pay Barcelona £2.8m, whereas the international is expected to pen a three-year deal worth £1.4m a year, plus bonuses.

Giuly, who joined the Catalan outfit from Monaco in 2004, was also a reported target for his former club, but the principality seem to have lost the bidding war.

In the meantime, Italy Under-21 goalkeeper Gianluca Curci has agreed to extend his contract with Roma until 2011.

The Azzurrino, who grew up in the Giallorossi youth system and has recently been linked with a move to Parma, was previously contracted until 2010.

GREAT DEAL!!i have to say this is the 2nd good deal we've done this transfer window.the first one being the capturing of juan.well the scouts are doing their job at some extent though we could us a younger player for the use for the future but giuly will fit the bill till we have some one come through our youth ranks or form some where out side

though some might say we dont need a winger with players we have, but the truth we do.lots of teams have nullified our tactics last season and another man running down the flanks will give us an added depth and il capitano also will be freed and he can move from the supplier co striker to a more heavily striker.an all out il capitano can do wonders!!

besides that we do need a experienced player to help us in cl, he has been there lifted the cup and his wisdom can help the whole team.with hectic schedule of next season domestic and internationally(qualifiers, friendlies etc etc) we will a good squad size to make sure we are pre-pared for the un-avoidable plus to keep our team fresh.

but i do agree that we will need another striker, since back then we all do have common thought our club need enforcements in the front, flanks and defense wch we ha already 2 out of 3.

Great signing by Roma again, Guily is great however, not young but as Duke says he can fit in well until a real primavera star is born.
I can't wait to see Guily playng for Roma, I have always enjoyed him and of course his goals.

Two great signings for Roma without a doubt, this is what I like about Roma they see who they wnat and they go and get them, no faffing about.

Congrats Roma

Niiiiiiiiice. We all thought the Guily deal was part of teh Chivu exchange, but seems Roma have now captured Guily. Very, very, good signing. He will bring some much added depth to our squad. Very happy right now

Giuly lands in Rome Tuesday 17 July, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ludovic Giuly is ready to start his new adventure with Roma after undergoing a medical and starting training today.

The former Barcelona winger travelled to Italy last night after the Catalan giants accepted the Giallorossi’s £2.2m offer.

Giuly reportedly agreed to sign a three-year contract after negotiations with his former club Monaco, plus a host of other top European sides, failed.

“He refused offers from six other clubs who were willing to spend up to £6m for his services, but he chose Roma,” transfer guru Ernesto Bronzetti, who acted as mediator in the deal, told Rete Sport.

“Last night the difference between the request and the offer was down to £210,000, I opted to give up on my fee to allow the player to sign.

“Giuly had been mentioned as a technical counterpart when Barcelona were interested in Chivu, after the negotiations failed I immediately offered the Frenchman to Roma,” explained Bronzetti.

Giuly completed his medical at Villa Stuart this morning before joining his teammates at Trigoria, where he held his first training session this afternoon.

I am as happy as you are!! that's fantastic news! he's finally leaving!

I'm sure he'll be much better in roma than his was in barca(poor, annoying.. crap!). I always thought he should go to the seria A, I thought to see him in juve though, but rome is great for him! I wish him all the best there.
giuly is a great winger, before he came to barca he was considered one of the best in the world.. maybe he can get back to those days in a new enviroment. hope so.

Great signing. Guily gives you another option, didn't cost you that much, and truth be told you needed another winger, even if Mancini and Taddei cemented the places last season.

You're not yet waist deep in that £15m transfer budget yet, so if you get a striker, you shuld be able to afford the right one.

We've spend a lot to retain players like Pizarro, Cassetti and we've given raises to Mexes. We also are dealing with Mancini as well. So, Roma are spending some money.

Pizzaro granted, but surely you'd have a seperate budget for transfers and contract negotiations? Giuly for under £3m is a coup whatever way you slice it, imo.
