roma dont have any clue how to effectivley re invest the money from big sales so we deff wouldnt get anyone better or just as good....

aye on that, unless we act swiftly and get a new transfer guru.

one thing though, no player is bigger then the club, even if we lost him roma will stand united, we wont go into depression nor bankruptcy nor finish in serie b'.believe me on this lads, i have seen our club on harder times then this.

I mean aqulani is replaceable...the problem like i said is that roma are not very good at replacing lost players...somehow the money disappers and they dont have any to re invest on a new player??

Juve's Aquilani offer rejected Sunday 27 July, 2008

Roma have announced that Alberto Aquilani is “not for sale” even though they did receive an offer from Juventus.

For several weeks Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport has reported on the Bianconeri’s interest in the midfielder, but now there is official confirmation.


“Juventus tried to enquire about him in the correct way when Giovanni Cobolli Gigli asked Rosella Sensi, but he’s not going anywhere,” revealed director of sport Daniele Pradé on Sky Italia.


“The Sensi family has made it clear Aquilani is not for sale.”


The Italian international’s contract expires in 2010 and negotiations for an extension have still not reached a conclusion.


The Giallorossi have been at the centre of another curious transfer saga this week, as Adrian Mutu had his bags packed before Fiorentina pulled the plug on an £18m move.


“Mutu was a Roma player in every way,” explained Pradé. “He had agreed economic terms with us and had also given up on an extra £800,000 of his four-year contract so we could match the price-tag proposed by Pantaleo Corvino.


“It was all confirmed, then the whole thing just collapsed.”


The decision was made to keep Mutu when President Andrea Della Valle flew in to discuss the matter with Mutu and Coach Cesare Prandelli.

not the news i like to hear, even tho we rejected it i still like to think they didnt make an offer at all.

It wouldn't be smart of Roma to not entertain offers for a player...regardless of who it is. It's just good business.but, glad they are keeping him.

Roma to lock up Aquilani Thursday 31 July, 2008

Reports suggest that Roma have offered midfield ace Alberto Aquilani a lucrative contract extension.

The homegrown talent has been a target for several of Europe’s top sides, including Arsenal, Juventus and Inter.

Aquilani’s reluctance to sign a new deal has led to frenzied speculation that he could jump ship and regular reports that Juve have him in their sights.

But according to Il Messaggero, the rumours will soon be silenced as the Azzurri man has been won over by the Giallorossi’s show of faith.

Reports suggest that Roma are willing to offer a deal worth just under £2m per season until 2013 and that Aquilani will put pen to paper within the next week.

The 24-year-old rose through Roma’s youth system and has made 88 appearances for the Lupi since making his debut back in 2002.

hmm another good news amidst the bad ones, lets hope this one will be materialized soon

Surprised of the offer...i thought Alberto was looking for a DDR type deal...under 2m...ouch. He can go to Inter and get a 3m offer. But, if he takes a "home town" discount...so be it.

He's already from a Wealthy family I dont think money is an issue but he does deserve above 2 mill or even 2 mill flat.Why not give him a rising contract offer such as 1.8 for this year.2 for the next then 2.3 for the third season and finally 2.5 for the fourth although by that time he'll want a whole new total contract with DDR and Totti type money .Its a quick fix type thing.

thats the actual plan, you see he has loads of talent but thus far due to injuries and etc etc he hasnt pumped it to our squads so far successes, so we start wth the under 2mil and in this coming season he WILL clock up those performances and after that the club will gradually increase his wage just like the one ddr's one.similar to what sinoy said except ist not just a suggestion how our club do their stingy wage system.

Alberto Aquilani is close to agreeing a contract extension with Roma, according to his agent.

Azzurri midfielder Aquilani is a product of the Giallorossi's youth system and is a dedicated Roma fan.

However, there were rumours this summer that Juventus, Arsenal and Inter were considering audacious swoops

But Aquilani stayed put and his representative expects him to have a bright future at the Stadio Olimpico.

“Alberto's words are what counts and he has always said that he wants to stay at Roma,” Franco Zavaglia told Radio Incontro.

“We are working closely with the club but we can't say any more because we don't want to destabilise the situation.

“We never had any doubts that the player would stay, even if other people did.”

been hearing this for a while now, roma need to tie him down.as he demonstrated in the opening game, he is an asset we cant loose.

Alberto Aquilani claims he never rejected a contract offer from Roma and he isn't concerned about finding an agreement.

The homegrown midfield talent is seen by many as the future of the Giallorossi but he was linked with a move to Juventus or Inter during the summer.

Negotiations for a contract extension have been agonisingly slow, but Aquilani isn't as concerned as many of Roma's fans.

“The problem of my contract is more of an agony for you than it is for me,” he asserted.

“There has been so much gossip and so many lies. It really isn't true that I refused an offer from Roma.

“My father was at Trigoria yesterday but that had nothing to do with the contract talks.

“You all know that my desire is to stay but there is no meeting scheduled yet.”

says him.of course we the fans are in agony.i cant depict him playing for juve nor inter.last word if he really wants to move i hope its out of serie a'.cant bare to watch him week in week out in other italian club.
