It's not even that, it's just a fact that you give more chances to your home grown youth players than we do. Totti, De Rossi, Aquilani, Rosi, Curci, etc have all come through the ranks and have been given a decent chance at some point even if they're not regulars right now.

We don't compare to that.

A few years ago, Roma were playing teens like Rosi, Kharja, Alvarez, Okaka, Aquilani...bc of injuries. Maybe that's why we finished in 7th place.

Aquilani close to signing a contract...and has been assured a regular starting position.

Quote:
In more good news for Roma fans, it seems as if the problems regarding Alberto Aquilani’s contract renewal are slowly starting to be solved, as the youngster is said to be close to agreeing a new deal.

Aquilani has been heavily linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico, as talks over a new contract had not been going at all well.

The midfielder has been asking for €2.5m in wages per season, but until now the Giallorossi have only been willing to offer €1.5m.

agreed, frankly come the new season aquilani will send pizzaro to the bench if he can only stay fit.thats the one thing hindering him from having a good season.

its been a stop and go time for him and practically that lowers his game a bit.

Deal not completed as of yet...still a small possibility that he may leave for Juve.

Ya, i think we will finally see De Rossi and Aquilani finally on the field together as starters. I think he will sign a deal like DDR until 2012. They need to build for the future and signing DDR and Alberto is a good start.

Chiellini: I called Aquilani
Wednesday 2 July, 2008
Giorgio Chiellini has revealed that he urged Roma midfield ace Alberto Aquilani to join him at Juventus.

Juve are currently looking for a new midfielder after last summer’s additions Sergio Almiron and Tiago Mendes failed to make an impression.

Giallorossi and Azzurri star Aquilani was one of the Old Lady’s targets, but a move seems out of the question, much to Chiellini’s disappointment.

“I have been playing alongside Alberto in Italy’s youth sides since we were 15 and our parents are very close friends,” the Bianconeri defender said on Sky Sport Italia.

“We have always spoken regularly and I have constantly been telling him to come to Turin.

“I told him about how great this city is and said that the choice was left to him, but the situation isn’t simple because he grew up at Roma and he is strongly tied to that club.”

Juve now look likely to redouble their attempts to land Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso and could move for Inter man Dejan Stankovic, in spite of protests from the fans.

“There are no doubts about Alonso,” Chiellini stated. “He has proven himself year after year for Liverpool.

“He is a great player and he could help us. We need a great champion to help us fight Milan, Inter and Roma, but there are other names.

“Stankovic? It’s only natural that he wouldn’t be that popular here after playing for Inter for so many years,” Chiellini continued.

“However, a player of that type can win over the supporters after a few games.

“I don’t know what decision the club will make, but the fans can rest assured that if he came he would give his all to cancel out the memories of him in an Inter shirt.”

how dare him!!, tho glad to hear aquilani loves roma and our eternal city
