We don't stand a chance, plus we've got more realistic targets anyway.

Maybe if it was Palladino instead of Marchionni...then it would be much more interesting.

Alberto wants first team...or else.
Quote:
Playing is priority for Aquilani
Thursday 12 June, 2008
Alberto Aquilani’s father has explained that it is first-team football, rather than money that will persuade the Azzurri midfielder to stay at Roma.
The Roman starlet is seen as a building block for the future of the capital club, but he has been reluctant to commit to a contract extension.
The delay has prompted approaches from a number of sides, including Arsenal and Juventus, but Aquilani is still expected to stay put.
“We are calm, but obviously we can’t be 100 per cent optimistic,” Claudio Aquilani told Calciomercato.it.
“There has been some contact with Roma, but nothing has been made certain yet.
“We absolutely haven’t talked on financial terms. We have never discussed a figure and we don’t expect that to stall negotiations.
“Until there is any proof otherwise, Alberto is a Roma player and he would be very happy to stay here.
“We expect the club to make a show of faith in Alberto or else he could be the object of bids.
“There are lots of interested clubs and lots of those have made important offers, there’s no point in making a list. But we will only decide his future along with Roma.
“If Roma say that they see him as an element they will be counting on for the future he will be happy to stay forever.
“But if the Giallorossi are happy to listen to other offers then he is on the market and we will be looking for the highest offer for the club.
“He is more or less looking for a starting shirt, but we know that there will be three candidates for the place – Roma have told us that,” he said.

Why would Doni be a prick? Do you mean Donadoni? This is in relation to starting at Roma, not Italy.

There's no reason why he shouldn't be a regular for Roma.
If he isn't then I don't blame him for wanting a move.

We can typical rely on Prade to make accurate statements...hopefully this is true.
Quote:
Pradè: Aquilani stays
Friday 13 June, 2008
Roma sporting director Daniele Pradè has no doubt that Azzurri midfielder Alberto Aquilani will stay at the Stadio Olimpico.
The 23-year old star developed in the Giallorossi’s academy and is seen as a crucial component in the future of the club.
Although Aquilani has stalled over renewing his contract, prompting interest from Juventus, Inter and Arsenal, Pradè isn’t entertaining the idea he may quit the club.
“As I have said before, Aquilani won’t be leaving Roma,” the Lupi director told ANSA.
“We aren’t even considering offers from other clubs because Alberto is under contract here until 2010.”
There was some confusion yesterday when a respected website published quotes from Aquilani’s father Claudio insisting Alberto’s priority was first-team football, rather than money.
Aquilani’s agent Franco Zavaglia has claimed that the interview was concocted.
“Regarding the words attributed to Claudio that have been published on a website, he wants to make it clear that he never released any official declarations about his son and the cub,” Zavaglia stressed.
Pradè was unwilling to enter into the controversy and dismissed the issue.
“I don’t want to make any response to Claudio Aquilani’s declarations,” he said.
“We have a relationship of the utmost reciprocal respect and friendship with him built up over years of sharing a love for the Giallorossi.”

It's either Pizarro or Aquilani for the other position beside DDR. Pizarro has done well, but he hasn't been perfect. Unless Aquilani can play further upfield...i say start Aquilani over Pizarro. But, Spalletti loves his little Chilean.

Roma will apparently change to a 4-3-1-2. So DDR Piza and Alberto will still play with Perrotta further ahead of them. While Totti(when he comes back) and Vucinic up top.
My only beef is that Spaletti loves his wide players. What will come of that?Cicinho and Tonetto to make surging powerful runs up top? I dont mind.I trust Spaletti with whatever he does .

Well if Mancini is going that would make sense.
Play to your strengths, there's no point playing with wingers if you haven't got any worth playing....

That's too many DM's...that will allow too much space in the midfield and not leave Roma as may options going forward. Perrotta playing behind Totti and Vucinic? I don't like that. The only way that formation will work is if Pizarro and Aquilani move up field to support Perrotta. Then have Cicinho/Panucci and Tonetto providing wide support. But, let's wait and see who Roma sign...then we'll get a more clear indication on the formation.

xxxx - Vucinic
Totti
De Rossi - Pizarro - Aquilani
That would work in my opinion, especially if you've got attacking FB's.
You need a proper striker though!
