That's whats made Doni this year. Chivu/Mexes partnership has been flawless. Doni has his weaknesses, just as every keeper does. He can be flat footed at times and is not the greatest at dead balls. (Corners, Free kicks, penalties) But he has done an excellent job for us and had made some very impressive saves at times. Our players have confidence in him and don't worry when he's in goal.

I don't know if I'd rate him above Julio Cesar

Honestly...i see where you're coming from... Cesar has made some incredible saves at times. I think he robbed Totti on a penalty this season...or was it Dida...forget...i think i would have to choose Cesar, if i had to choose...sorry Doni!

GASP!!!!
I think your saying that Cesar is a more complete keeper, but Doni has had a more impressive season because our defenders are more effective.
doni's weaknesses comes from free kicks and penalties above all. Curci was a more penalty specialist.

However, id still rate Doni way above Curci.
Doni seems to be more confident in goal and more in command of his goal area than Gianluca

Well after watching Curci play against England there's no doubt in my mind that Doni is better right now.

No doubt about it. Doni has confidence which Curci does not, due to lack of playing. Roma aren't helping Curci's progress by letting his sit on the bench. I would for Curci to be loaned out and Roma to get a veteran backup keeper. C.I isn't good enough for Curci...

Personally I'd take Doni over Julio Cesar, both are good keepers though.
|
In Curci's defense, he hasn't played a full game in months...he only gets to train with the Roma. But he was poor on a couple England goals

when it comes to gk's going on loan, its a whole different matter.clubs make sure they have top quality gk in line before giving the green light for loan move to any future gks.
right now curci is 2nd best to doni and it will be not wise to send him out loan.imagine if doni was injured and curci was not there, any veteran gk just wont do it.

Loan is not the answers, esp with GK...it works on a rotation basis, so its best for Curci to just wait his turn

I actually thought Curci was going to be the next big thing a couple of years ago when he had a decent run in the side but after one or two mistakes he was dropped. It's a shame really.

He had his 15 minutes of fame when Roma were struggling. He played very well and made many headlines in the papers. I think he was 18 or 19 and won his first Serie A game. But ya, i thought the same that he was a rising star...but not turning out that way, but he's still young, things may change!

Also another example of Roma's excellent youth system.
A loan move would be ideal though.

Ya, that's what i think. He can't sit around and wait for Doni to start slumping in order to get a shot....he needs weekly experience in goal....either Serie A or B. You can't mimic a game in training!

i dont think loans work with GK's clubs need to buy or sell them because once Curci goes to a club, he may play well for his team...when the loan expires, that team will have to try to find a replacement...and Curci will need to re-adjust to the Roma CDF...its not reasonable for either one.

yep, posted it earlier.but wth gks expected long life on the pitch we dont have to rush any new future prospects in to loans.lots of gk vets are still at their best and imo being gk a good takes the most amount of time compared to other positions in football.the learning curve comes in a long road both on and off the pitch.
the man which in a game might be the most important player all together may also look like the least importance.gks are the ghosts of football.

It won't take him long to readjust to the defense...thats what pre training is for. I really hope he can grow into our number one one day...but he still needs much more experience...just hope he finds that experience sooner rather then later!

he will be our numero uno!! , but he has long road to go.its better not to rush him in and give him a culture shock
with numerous u21 international games he will be getting good training and experiance and plus other chances that might fall to him while he is on the bench.
