oh...he's "fit" but not in the best form. Since he missed so much time, he's going to need a while of playing time to get back into things. I hope he can return to his former days...but i have a slight feeling that we may be disappointed. I PRAY i'm wrong.

Esposito headed for Naples Wednesday 30 January, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roma striker Mauro Esposito could sign for Napoli after co-owners Cagliari agreed to the switch.
The Giallorossi paid Cagliari £1.3m plus the loan of Daniele Magliochetti for 50 per cent of the experienced hitman’s rights in July, but he is surplus to requirements at the Stadio Olimpico.
While Esposito could return to Sardinia, he is determined to complete a dream move to hometown club Napoli and it seems that Cagliari President Massimo Cellino won’t stand in his way.
“Mauro is an exceptional lad and asked me to let him wear the Napoli shirt as it is his dream,” the Rossoblu patron revealed on Radio Marte
“There have been other approaches as Roma called me about sending him on loan and Genoa have offered to buy our half.
“On the other hand, I would be happy to take him back, but he wants to go to Napoli and I have agreed to that as a favour to Mauro, even if Napoli sporting director Pierpaolo Marino didn’t behave well with Roberto De Zerbi, Nicolas Amodio and Inacio Pià.”
Napoli angered Cagliari when they demanded a huge price for De Zerbi and Amodio and sold Pià to Catania, ending the Isolani’s chances of adding some much needed reinforcements.

Napoli explain Mauro mix-up Friday 1 February, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Napoli sporting director Pierpaolo Marino has explained why the Partenopei’s bid to sign Mauro Esposito stalled on deadline day.
The Vesuviani are looking to strengthen their front line and seemed set to bring in Naples native Esposito, who is cooling his heels on the Roma bench.
The 28-year-old is co-owned by Cagliari, who accepted the move, but the expected deal didn’t materialise yesterday evening.
“There was nothing we could do to sign Esposito,” Marino sighed on Radio Marte.
“We had an agreement with Cagliari, but at the last minute Roma didn’t turn up to the meeting. Obviously they changed their mind and decided to keep hold of him.”

Well, the Esposito-Napoli link is back on...i've heard reports that Esposito wants to go to Napoli. I think he needs a change...it didn't work out with Roma last season.

Roma take possession of Esposito
Wednesday 25 June, 2008
Cagliari have agreed a deal with Roma to sell the Giallorossi their 50 per cent share of Mauro Esposito.
The 29-year-old attacking midfielder spent six successful years at the Stadio Sant’Elia and earned six Italy caps.
Last summer Roma bought half of Esposito for around £1.75m and the loan of Daniele Magliocchetti.
And despite playing just eight times last term, Esposito is now completely the property of Roma.
“Cagliari and Roma have reached an agreement that gives complete rights for Esposito to the capital club,” a statement from the Isolani confirmed.
No fee has yet been announced by either side, but Cagliari no longer have any hold over Esposito.
Meanwhile, another piece of business has been completed by the two sides as young defender Magliocchetti is now co-owned by Cagliari.

I don't like this one bit...he was terrible last season. He was recovering from his injury, but still....he's finish. The Esposito that earned an Azzurri place in 2005, is nowhere to be found.
