Perrotta-Nonda
2-2 a Leverkusen

Friendlies: Roma debutante's ball
Sunday 29 July, 2007
Juan, Ludovic Giuly, Mauro Esposito and Marco Andreolli all made their Roma debuts in a 2-2 draw at Bayer Leverkusen.

This friendly match against his former club was part of the deal when Juan moved this summer.

With a few more days of pre-season training behind them, Luciano Spalletti’s men certainly improved from the 4-0 loss at Borussia Dortmund earlier this week.

Within two minutes the Italians had taken the lead when Marco Cassetti set up the goal for Simone Perrotta.

Schneider converted a soft penalty to equalise and the same player turned it around after the break, but Shabani Nonda was on target to secure a 2-2 draw.

“Our consistency in performance has improved,” noted Spalletti. “Bayer are a good team and are ready to start their season, so this was an excellent test for us.

“Juan proved when he arrived that he is a great player and man by the way he was willing to work, his talent and the right character when playing the ball.”

Roma’s next match will be in London on August 4 against West Ham United.

In today’s other friendly test, Torino saw off Serie B outfit Treviso 1-0 thanks to Zanetti’s volley.

Bayer Leverkusen: Adler, Friedrich, Rolfes, Barnetta, Gekas, Kiebling, Schwegler, Gresko, Schneider Castro, Callsen-Bracker

Roma: Julio Sergio, Cassetti, Mexes, Juan, Tonetto, Esposito, De Rossi, Pizarro, Giuly, Perrotta, Totti

Looks like Roma are starting to get their legs back and looking like the Roma of old. A few more weeks in training and we should be back to 100%

Ya, brutal goals and bad coverage. But glad it was the first game and we improved the second, so we should be fine.

Im not that worried, we dont play our starting players as much as we should in these matches, and the linuep is all over people playing with people they arent used to they scores are going to be skewed a bit!

I'm hoping Nonda stays as a third striker for us. He can come in handy if someone gets hurt. Hope he stays around.
