When italians immigrated to the United States and Canada through Elis Island in NYC and Peir 21 in canada...they asked people for their papers when the came off the boats...Well alot of the italian immigrants were poor and didnt have the "papers" like medical records, Identidication cards, or anything so they used to give them a big piece of paper or right on their shirt "WOP" standing for "With Out Papers"

Fights are a big part of hockey...if 2 guys scrap the refs let them go until one of them wins...you win by thrwoing your oponent to the ice and falling on top of him...but there have been some great team/goalie fights between the detroit red wings and the colorado avalance...check youtube...youll find them!

Haha...thats why calling an italian-american(canadian) is an insult over here. Sometimes to they call people wonderbread wops....italians that have pretty much thrown away all their italian culture just to fit in, in North America....wonderbread being an american company so they throw wonderbread in front of there as a bigger insult....also ive seen wonderbread wop used as an insult for similar reasons as a above, but because they have thrown out their italian culture...they will eat their spaghetti sauce with wonderbread instead of fresh italian bread...again another pun on words.
