David Pizarro has admitted that he has regrets about how many points Roma have dropped in the League this term.

The capital club have now mathematically ensured a second place finish in the table, but the Chilean believes they could have made a more serious title bid – especially after thrashing champions Inter 6-2 in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday.

“Without doubt we do regret having failed to win precious points against some of the smaller sides in Serie A,” he noted. “However, we have to be happy with our efforts this season.”

Roma, who are also the only side to beat Inter in the championship this term, were awesome in midweek even if the playmaker insists the Italian Cup is still up for grabs.

“The first leg of the Final was extraordinary,” he stated. “We did a great job in achieving such an unexpected result and therefore we are happy

“Have we already celebrated the Coppa Italia win? Not at all, we have already suffered comebacks this season so we prefer to remain cautious.

“The victory at the Stadio Olimpico was definitely for our fans, but we still have to play a match in Milan and that is sure to be a difficult game.”

Pizarro joined the capital club from Inter last summer in a co-ownership deal worth £4.6m and club officials are scheduled to meet after the return leg of the Final to discuss his future.

The Giallorossi are keen on securing the star’s entire ownership and Inter are willing to discuss that option, but might ask for either Philppe Mexes or Cristian Chivu to be included in the deal.

his right, if i have any regrets this season its this.all the chances we had that we never even took.we showed quality and pedigree of a champion in some games this season.when i see the way we played makes me think "why did'nt we do that in our games that we have drawn or lost".

it just hurts a lot when thinking about our scudetto charge this season.we faltered on the nitty gritty games which if far more important then high profile games.all we needed was consistency and that is one thing that deserted us this season.

oh well still this seasons disappointments will be a good experience for our growing squad.

Inter can forget about Mexes and Chivu. They won't be going anywhere. Roma will get Pizarro for a cash fee. When Inter signed Dacourt, it was from a free transfer because his contract expired, but for months Inter was interested. I think that played a part in Pizarro coming to Rome.
