[#4] Juan: Juan expects Roman recovery
Quote:
Bayer Leverkusen have suggested that they will sell Juan to Italian club Roma at the end of this season.
The Brazilian stopper has been associated with the Giallorossi in the past and it now seems that a move is on the cards.
“We are certain that we will lose him,” stated Bayer sporting director Rudi Voeller, who played for and briefly bossed the Eternal City giants.
“There is nothing official yet, but it is highly probable that he will go to Roma or another southern European outfit.”
Juan Silveira dos Santos joined the Bundesliga club in the summer of 2002 after previously playing for Flamengo.
Juan, a 27-year-old Brazilian international, is currently contracted to Leverkusen until June 2009.
It is unclear at this stage how much the South American will cost the ambitious Stadio Olimpico side.

If Spalletti believes in his services, then he will be a good signing. Roma will not overpay for him though. If the price is right, then go for it. Depth is always good in all positions.

He'll be nothing more than a backup anyway.

I know he's a good defender, he's just not as good as Chivu and Mexes.
Roma need the backup though, they only have Ferrari at the moment.

I'll take anyone over Ferrari. Disappointed me too often to gain my trust. Causes too many fouls and misjudges certain situations. Some reinforcements are much needed...glad Roma are on the look out. We'll see what happens!

Can't help thinking that if Juan is brought in it will signal the end for either Chivu's or Mexes' stay in Rome.
Forza Roma!

Nah, he'd only be back up. Mexes and Chivu are on another level to Juan and Roma are keen to extend their contracts anyway.
And welcome to the forum mate.

Of course he wants to go to AC Brazil. Roma are bringing in a few Brazilians, but Milan are bringing in much more. Oh well, Roma will look elsewhere!

Roma in Juan Race!
More Brazilians interest Roma...
Quote:
Voeller has Roma ahead of AC Milan in Juan race
tribalfooball.com - March 30, 2007

Roma are ahead of AC Milan in the race for Bayer Leverkusen defender Juan. The Brazil international is rated in the £5 million class and has expressed an ambition to play for Milan.
However, Roma remain in the boxseat thanks to their close relationship with Bayer sports director Rudi Voeller.
