But the thing is Joel he will get games.Its just a matter of time till Totti gets injured or needs a rest or Vucinic gets tired or Injured thats when Okaka slides in.I can see him coming on at the 80th minute mark in nearly every game and being played as a starter ever coppa or ever 4th league game.That is valuable experience although not good enough since he is quite talented and deserves to be playing regularly.

Okaka on track for Bologna Monday 18 August, 2008

Roma youngster Stefano Chuka Okaka is set to join newly promoted Bologna after the Italian Super Cup.

Bologna thought they had agreed a deal for the 18-year-old talent a month ago, but Luciano Spalletti insisted that Okaka stay for the time being.

However, the arrival of Real Madrid forward Julio Baptista today and Francesco Totti’s recovery from injury have relieved the pressure on resources at the Stadio Olimpico.

Okaka would be unlikely to play much first-team football for the Lupi this term and so sending him out to gain experience at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara seems to be a logical solution.

The former Cittadella man will be kept in Rome for this Sunday’s Italian Super Cup against Inter as a precaution before being allowed to relocate to Emilia-Romagna.

Okaka spent last season on loan to Serie B side Modena and found the net seven times.

its back on, but then again we are still under powered, so if spalletti can give him a good run along wth the other regulars we have then its best to keep him, but if not its better for the loan move.

Guys think about it we desperately need Okaka...He is the one coming off the bench first....assuming Montella gets injured again ....Baptista Vucinic and Totti are ALL starting leaving 1 striker left on the bench.Quite scary.

The agent of Roma youngster Stefano Chuka Okaka has declared that his client will stay with the Giallorossi for next season.

It was widely expected that the 19-year-old would be sent out on loan after the signature of Julio Baptista and given the imminent arrival of Jeremy Menez.

Bologna believed they had secured a deal a month ago, but Okaka will instead be fighting for a starting spot at the Stadio Olimpico next term.

“I can officially say that Stefano will stay at Roma,” Domenico Scopelliti told Laromasiamonoi.it.

“The opinion of Coach Luciano Spalletti was decisive and he wanted to keep Okaka.

“He suggested that was the case before the friendly against Monaco but it is only over the last few days that he made his decision.

“It could be valuable for Okaka to continue at Trigoria where he grew up and he is very enthusiastic for the opportunity to play for his place.”

ok this guys place is more confusing then our transfer campaign this season.im sure about him being our player for the long run but what confuses me is, will he be leaving on loan or stay for the coming season???man make decision alredy.

Young striker Stefano Chuka Okaka is delighted to have stayed at Roma rather than being sent on loan, according to his agent.

The 19-year-old was on the brink of joining Bologna on a season loan before Coach Luciano Spalletti pulled the plug on the deal.

Okaka faces stiff competition for a staring shirt at the Stadio Olimpico, but his representative insists that he is happy to fight for a place.

“He is ecstatic that he has stayed in Rome because he feels like a Giallorossi,” Domenico Scopelliti told Romanews.eu.

“Spalletti made the decision along with the directors and that pleases him. He was ready to go on loan if he wasn't considered part of the squad, but it is better to be able to give the squad a hand.

“Other sides wanted him, including Bologna, Siena, Pisa and Ascoli. Bologna were always waiting, along with Siena, but Pisa and Ascoli called on deadline day.

“Now I just hope that Okaka will stay with Roma because that would mean that he is doing well.”

Okaka came on as a substitute for Julio Baptista in the 83rd minute of Roma's opening game against Napoli.

This is due to the lack of confidence in Montella. I believe Spalletti prefers Okaka rather Montella. But, with Montella's high salary and the inability to trade him, Roma are stuck with him. Maybe Roma are hoping for another Balotelli type player in Okaka.

Young striker Stefano Chuka Okaka has extended his contract at Roma by three years.

The 19-year-old talent spent last term on loan to Serie B outfit Modena and was close to agreeing a temporary move to Bologna this summer.

However, Coach Luciano Spalletti decided to keep Okaka at the Stadio Olimpico due to a lack of attacking options.

So far, Okaka has made five appearances this term as a substitute and just one start.

The Giallorossi have announced that Okaka is now tied to the club until 2012 after successful contract extension negotiations.

Okaka will receive around £470,000 per year until 2010 when his salary rises to just under £550,000 and it will reach £700,000 by the 2011-12 campaign.

good for him, tho he really needs to step up his game from what ever chance the boss hands him.
