Im not trying to knock him...i was the first one to say "give mirko his starts or playing time and he will prove hes good" in the summer..i was his biggest supporster...Its not about scoring goals...or winning games for me, its about consistant play...Vucinic is not consistant right now and thats whay im saying dont treat him like hes the second coming of christ. Ya he won 2 games for us...but you could have put any other player as the striker in those games and they would have scored to...It was just a case of right place right time...and like i said had totti played there he would have been consistant the whole game and it would have been a gridiron game.

Im not trying to take away from the fact that he scored, cuz god knows we might have lost or tied without him, im just still skeptic about him thats all

Vucinic isn't Totti, but at the same time he can still do things that Totti can't.

ie. score goals with instinctive finishes like out-and-out strikers are supposed to.

Savicevic hails magic Mirko Friday 2 November, 2007

Montenegro Football Association President Dejan Savicevic has labelled Roma’s Mirko Vucinic as a national hero.

The ex-Lecce marksman has hit a purple patch with crucial goals against Sporting Lisbon, Milan and Lazio.

It seems that Vucinic’s tough start to life in the Eternal City has been forgotten as ex-Milan man Savicevic explains.

“Vucinic is the pride of our nation and a truly great player,” the 41-year-old enthused.

“Here in Montenegro he is already an idol and everyone supports him.

“He needs to play regularly in the right position and then he can really show his abilities.”

Despite his superb form, Vucinic may find himself on the bench again when captain Francesco Totti returns from injury.

“When he first arrived he struggled with Luciano Spalletti’s formation and I advised him to leave because you need to be playing regularly at 24,” Savicevic continued.

“Spalletti needs to find a way to play Vucinic alongside Totti.

"Mirko can’t be expected to replace such a Roma legend, but he is also a top player.”

Roman future for Vucinic Friday 28 December, 2007

According to Lecce sporting director Guido Angelozzi the future of Montenegro striker Mirko Vucinic is in Rome.

The Giallorossi ace is co-owned by Lecce and Roma, and the latter need to make a good offer if they want to sign him completely.

Vucinic has reportedly been linked to Real Madrid, so the Giallorossi cannot afford to waste time.

“The relationship between Roma and Lecce is good, and the Giallorossi are the favorite to sign Vucinic,” said Angelozzi.

“We haven’t negotiated his transfer with any other team, because we do not like to talk with many teams about one player,” he told Il Romanista.

“The player is in Rome, so it is up to them to make a move, but it is not a mystery why there are several big clubs interested.

“It is normal that outfits such as Real Madrid and Manchester United are interested. But Roma are a great team and I am convinced they will get him.” he concluded.

Vucinic has scored two Serie A goals so far this season proving to be a valid alternative to star-man Francesco Totti. The 24-year-old has already claimed he wishes to renew his contract with the Giallorossi.

Roma will start preparing their next Serie A tie against Atalanta next week.

Vucinic launches Scud missile Monday 10 March, 2008

Roma attacker Mirko Vucinic has announced that he wants to win the Italian championship with the Giallorossi.

The 25-year-old has been in fine form of late, scoring the winner in Roma’s Champions League victory over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu last week.

So good was his performance that Coach Luciano Spalletti labelled him the ‘Maradona of the Balkans’ after the historic victory.

“We were all happy after the game, but the boss has exaggerated a little in his complement,” he stated.

Still, the former Lecce forward is very ambitious and intends to write himself into Giallorosso folklore.

“I would like to win the Scudetto,” admitted Vucinic. “The Champions League is equally important.”

Only a month ago, after a couple of poor matches, the Montenegrin captain was being booed by his own support.

“I know my true worth,” he added. “The whistles at the Olimpico spurred me on. I tried not to hear them.

“The fans sometimes have to understand there are certain moments when a player playing for the team of his heart doesn’t play well.

“But you also have to understand why a fan whistles.”

Vucinic revealed that he and his teammates are anticipating a difficult match with Milan at the weekend.

“They will be angry because they didn’t qualify for the next round of the Champions League and, like they have said, every game for them will be a Final.”

Longer-term, the striker would like to stay with Roma. Vucinic is still part-owned by Lecce and his recent form has pushed up his price.

“I have always said I looked to come to Roma, I am 50 per cent owned by them. Now I hope to become 100 per cent. The rest don’t interest me.”

Roma are on the brink of securing full rights to Montenegrin striker Mirko Vucinic, Lecce’s sporting director has revealed.

Vucinic has been playing for Roma since 2006, hitting 11 goals in 58 outings, but Second Division side Lecce still hold 50 per cent of his rights.

But the 24-year-old has made it clear that he wants to commit his future to the capital club and a meeting between the two sides yesterday was successful.

“There was a handshake between the Lecce directors and Daniele Prade and Daniele Conti of Roma,” Salentini sporting director Guido Angelozzi told Il Romanista.

“We will reach an agreement because Vucinic is only thinking about his future at Roma.
