And there is no gaurantee that Tavano will ever return to his former glory days. His confidence is shot after sitting for a year.

Roma won't spend £5 for Tavano. Not sure anyone would after he sat on the bench for a year. Like you said, that £5 can go toward signing Quag.

That's what Valencia rate him as, not his yearly salary. So if Roma wanted to sign him, they would have to give Valencia £5M for him, plus pay his yearly salary. I forget how much Valencia paied for him when they bought him from Empoli. Maybe £7M i think. But whatever, he's worth like £3 tops, only because he got splinters in his a*s from sitting all year!

Tavano to Livorno. Let's wait to see if this is actually OFFICIAL!
Quote:
Livorno agree Tavano fee
Tuesday 26 June, 2007
Francesco Tavano is on the verge of joining Livorno after Valencia reportedly accepted the Tuscans’ offer of £4m.
The former Empoli star moved to Roma in a January loan deal after failing to settle in La Liga after his transfer last summer.
However, his limited impact with the Giallorossi caused the capital city club to decide against taking up the option to buy out his contract.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Spanish outfit has finally agreed to Livorno’s offer and the final details are expected to be ironed out by the end of the day.
Tavano had reiterated over the past few months that he was keen on staying in Italy it took the Tuscan minnows a lengthy negotiation process to persuade Los Che to accept their £4m bid.
“I am extremely optimistic of Tavano’s arrival from Valencia, we are hoping that the contract will be signed soon,” grinned an obviously pleased Amaranto President Aldo Spinelli.
Tavano was also a reported target for Catania, as Coach Silvio Baldini worked with the player at Empoli and was keen on adding the 28-year-old.
In the meantime, the Labronici have reportedly rejected a £3m offer from Levante for goalkeeper Marco Amelia, although Spinelli could let the world champion leave for around £6m.

Friendlies: Tavano stunner
Saturday 28 July, 2007
Francesco Tavano ensures Cristiano Lucarelli is not missed with a fantastic goal in the 2-1 friendly victory over Mezzocorona.
The former Empoli, Roma and Valencia striker was drafted in this summer and impressed the fans at the Dimaro training camp this evening.
Tavano unleashed a splendid long-range strike into the top corner and set up the winner for Antonio Diamanti soon after.
New signing Diego Tristan did not take part, as he is still not match fit after six months of inactivity.
This was Livorno’s final test at the Dimaro camp and their next games will be on August 3 at Carrara followed by a tour of Greece.
