I think most find it hard to settle. Even Cannavaro isn't performing at his best.

True, but Valencia just simply refused to play Tavano. Even when both Morientes and Villa were injured, they never had any faith in him.

I think it's different with Cannavaro, overall he's done well in my opinion but every mistake he does make is being highlighted to a ridiculous extent. People need to give him a break, he's still living in a hotel with his wife and kids for goodness sake.

Taking on players in January is always risky, very few have made an impact.

Having said this, Roma are desperate.

Yep, having Tavano is better than nothing.

The only question now is whether Montella stays or not.

I think Montella has to remain...unless Roma buy another striker...what if an injury occurs to Totti (knock on wood) and we need a striker for CL....who we going to use? I think Spalletti is playing with fire with Totti...he should be subbing him majority of the games. We can afford to lose him to injury...again!

The injury to Vucinic may have saved Montella's Roma career then, I guess they need him at the moment as cover.

well its a done deal now.sources from valencia confirmed that tavano is going to be loaned to roma wth the option of buying him.here's the news piece.

frankly im happy to see another forward is joining our squad.this will help share the load of scoring for our forwards.

Francesco Tavano will play for Roma in the New Year after Valencia confirmed his January move this evening.

The Spanish club released a brief note on their website on Friday which outlined details of the agreement.

Tavano, signed by the Liga club in the summer for £7m from Empoli, will star for the Giallorossi on loan until June 30, 2007.

The Italian club will then have the option to buy the player outright should he prove to be a success in the capital.

Tavano, who scored 19 games in Serie A last year, had also been strongly associated with moves to Palermo and Milan next month.
