Family tragedy strikes De Rossi Wednesday 13 August, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma and Italy star Daniele De Rossi’s father-in-law has been found dead from two gunshot wounds.

The midfielder is in shock after 48-year-old Massimiliano Pisnoli was discovered in a street near the Campoleone station in Latina, near Rome.

The man had been shot twice by a rifle, once in the head and again in the back, but police say the actual time of death could be up to a week ago.

Pisnoli already had some previous convictions for theft and had reportedly escaped a previous assassination attempt.

De Rossi married Tamara Pisnoli on May 18, 2006 and they have a daughter together named Gaia.

The Roma midfielder is one of his club’s top stars and won the World Cup with Italy in 2006.

condolences to de rossi.

No Frosinone for De Rossi Thursday 14 August, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Azzurri midfielder Daniele De Rossi has been excused from Roma’s squad to face Frosinone this evening.

The gifted midfielder’s father-in-law Massimiliano Pisnoli was found dead from two gunshot wounds yesterday in Latina, near Rome.

De Rossi is still in shock at the news and Coach Luciano Spalletti has allowed him to be with his family rather than travel to Frosinone.

Captain Francesco Totti is in the squad again but isn’t expected to play any part against the Canarini.

Roma are looking to get back on track this evening after last weekend’s 5-0 humiliation at the hands of Tottenham and are looking for a confidence-boosting win ahead of August 24’s Italian Super Cup.

Kick-off at the Stadio Comunale ‘Matusa’ is at 7.30pm this evening.

Roma squad: Alvarez, Andreolli, Aquilani, Artur, Brighi, Cassetti, Cicinho, Esposito, Juan, Loria, Montella, Okaka, Panucci, Pena, Perrotta, Pipolo, Riise, Totti, Virga, Vucinic

Lippi hails super De Rossi Thursday 11 September, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Italy Coach Marcello Lippi has opened the Azzurri door to Amauri and Mario Balotelli and praised yesterday's hero Daniele De Rossi.

Brazilian-born hitman Amauri has secured an Italian passport through residency and is now eligible to represent his adopted nation.

While views on whether the ex-Palermo ace should be chosen vary across the peninsula, Lippi has hinted that he would welcome the addition to his squad.

“He is a very good player,” the World Cup winning tactician declared.

“We have spoken and I told him that first he just needs to get all the bureaucracy completed and then we will see.

“As for Mario Balotelli, everyone between the age of 18 and 40 has the Azzurri dream but my job, along with my Coaches, is to weigh things up and then integrate the best solutions.”

Italy had to dig deep to see off Georgia in Udine yesterday and struggled past Cyprus, but they have maximum points in their World Cup 2010 qualification campaign so far.

“Tactics are important when you are changing the players on the pitch, whether it's at the start of a game or during,” Lippi continued.

“But in the 35 years of my career I have learned that if you want to have a chance to win that goes beyond the value of your players then you need to be a unit without any prima donnas.”

Roma midfielder De Rossi was the hero at the Stadio Friuli as he bagged the match-winning brace.

“De Rossi isn't a gamble for me, on the contrary I have always had great respect for him as I did four years ago when he made the leap from the Azzurrini to the senior squad,” the Italy boss explained.

“I think that if a player is great then they must play with the best and now he is one of the strongest midfielders in the world.

“In Germany at the 2006 World Cup he paid for his sending off against the USA with a four-game ban but I played him in the Final and he took a very important penalty. He had already grown by that point.”

Lippi's next test is a tough trip to Bulgaria on October 11 before the Azzurri host Montenegro, who have Roma's Mirko Vucinic and Fiorentina starlet Stevan Jovetic in their ranks.

confidence booster for our future capitano

De Rossi enjoys Gerrard analogy Thursday 11 September, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Daniele De Rossi has thanked Marcello Lippi for comparing him to Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.

After the two goals that defeated Georgia in Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier, Lippi stated that De Rossi is “among the best midfielders in the world, on a par with Lampard and Gerrard.”

Still only 25 years old, the Roma man has quickly become a key figure in the Azzurri set-up and was pleased with the comparison.

“I work to constantly improve at both club and international level, trying to get as far as I possibly can,” said De Rossi.

“I am very happy with Lippi’s words of praise, because being compared to a legend like Gerrard is truly a great compliment.”

Lippi’s return to the Italy bench has prompted a tactical rethink, as Andrea Pirlo was substituted at half-time against Georgia and could make way for De Rossi in future.

The Gazzetta dello Sport muses that because De Rossi can guarantee both coverage for the defence and an attacking threat when going forward, he is given the keys to the midfield.

Instead Pirlo is pushed into a slightly wider position and if he continues to underperform at international level, could be dropped entirely.

he is maturing in his game and all the bad spells really matured him even more.he learns from his mistakes, a true leader of romans.i can safely say totti's heir is her now.

De Rossi: Something is happening Tuesday 16 September, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Daniele De Rossi was disheartened at Roma's disastrous results. “It's not a tragedy, but something is happening.”

The Giallorossi have one point from two Serie A games and lost 2-1 to Romanian Champions League debutants Cluj at the Olimpico. Curiously, in all three matches, Roma had taken the lead.

“This is a difficult moment in which nothing is going our way. We need a bit of luck, but many other things too. We hope this will just be a passing situation.

“We cannot afford any more mistakes, because we may be able to recover in Serie A, but the Champions League is a lot tougher.”

Chelsea's 4-0 victory over Bordeaux has created a definite split in the group, as Roma now find themselves battling Cluj for second place.

“My teammates and I must focus on what is going on here. It is not a tragedy, but something is happening.

“It is not an easy situation at all. We must have faith, not be optimistic.”
g sacrifices to fight our way back into the group.”

owh yeahh..he is damn right about some thing happening here.now is the time to get back to our roots.get back that feeling wch was lost.forget the injuries and work what we have.
