Default [#1] Gianluca Curci:

Fontana has played great for Palermo and would be a good backup to Doni as Curci will be loaned and will get his playing time he desperately needs.

Where would you like to see Curci go to? A Serie A club, or Serie B club?

Roma keen on Palermo keeper Fontana
tribalfooball.com - May 08, 2007

Palermo goalkeeper Alberto Fontana is interesting Roma. Roma want the 40 year-old to act as cover for No1 Doni. The Brazilian's current understudy, Gianluca Curci, will be shifted out on-loan next season.

well it actually doesn't matter if its a' or b' as long as he can get into a club where he will sure to be playing week in week out and not get in action just because of injury or suspension to another gk. this will ensure the effectiveness of a loan move.just look at what it did for rossi.

but with the looks of things with the clubs in serie a' right now, most probably the best place for him to start is in a club in serie B.

these days there is not that much of a difference between the 2 divisions, only things is that one has europe to contest and the other doesn't.

I think he will most likely get his starts in serie B but it would be nice if he could get the experience of A. Time in B could do him good, but then coming back to A he may loose confidence that he would have had if he stayed in A

Maybe a Parma, Chievo, Reggina...doesn't really matter at all. As long as be is the number one keeper. Even in B with Ascoli, Messina or anyone else. Doesn't matter, But i think B would be better for him as he won't get discouraged when his club loses.

I could see a Serie A club taking a gamble on him, the problem is that there's a lot of top quality keepers around at the moment.

Ya, he will probably go to B. Which isn't bad either. I just want him to be a #1 and play a good 35 games next season.

Amelia backs Curci to go to Livorno
Quote:
Amelia backs Roma keeper Curci for Livorno
tribalfooball.com - May 15, 2007

Marco Amelia has backed Livorno's interest in Roma goalkeeper Gianluca Curci.

Curci has been linked as a direct replacement for Amelia, who says: "I told Curci that he should come here, I had already said so when I was close to moving to Russia.

"A young and talented goalkeeper who does not have the chance to shine should move to another club, in order to mature and gain experience. I speak to Gianluca often, he knows what I think he should do."

Livorno would be a good move in my opinion.

Livorno's defense are weak, so that means he will get plenty of shots, but that also means he won't win many games and people like me will underrate him as i did with Amelia. But it would be a great change for him to play every week.

Number one: It would be great for Curci to have more playing time at another club rather than just selected Serie A and Coppa matches

Number two: Livorno would be a good option, especially since Amelia has been linked out of Livorno, leaving room so Curci could work with Kuffour and Lucarelli (if he decides to stay)

What is up with Italian goalkeepers moving to Russia? Who was the last one to do this? Pelizolli I believe?

Curci may go to Livorno
Quote:
Livorno president: Roma keen on Amelia
tribalfooball.com - May 23, 2007

Livorno president Aldo Spinelli admits Lazio have made inquiries about goalkeeper Marco Amelia.

Spinelli has put the Italy international up for sale and revealed: "There are several offers that we are now considering, even if officially nothing has arrived. I know that there is interest from Lazio and I will talk about this with their president later in the week at the Lega meeting."

Spinelli also confirmed their interest in Roma goalkeeper Gianni Curci as Amelia's replacement and added: "We won't be signing Samuel Kuffour. He will return to Roma."

They obviously realise that Amelia will leave and Curci appears to be their favoured replacement.
