the rivalry was always there and will be there just that after certain influential charecters retired it toned down a bit but still high octane

yep you cant get the players in the same room enjoying beer but you can never please the press.they will wth no doubt stir the pot till either one of them goe sto the grave...beyond that also i doubt they will let it go

Totti: I won’t rush back Wednesday 6 August, 2008

Francesco Totti was in a positive frame of mind as Roma prepare to take on Al-Ahly in Egypt but he won’t rush his recovery.

Despite featuring in the Giallorossi’s squad in Cairo, Totti won’t take to the field because he is still recovering from a serious knee injury he sustained in April.

“I feel good. I have some small pains, but nothing to worry about,” Totti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It’s true that I have to overcome the fear. When the ball comes there is always a reflex that wants you to protect your leg.

“But that is part of the game and the training games are helping me to get past that obstacle.”

Roma are hoping to count on Totti for the Italian Super Cup against Inter on August 24, but he won’t take any risks to be there.

“I will play for a bit against Frosinone,” Er Pupone revealed. “The objective is to get back for the Super Cup but I’m not losing sleep over playing on August 24.

“If I am ready that will be good, but otherwise I will delay the talk of a return.

“I won’t be going to London with the team. I will stay at Trigoria to train because I must keep working well if I am to return soon.”

While Coach Luciano Spalletti has admitted that Roma are two players short of a complete squad, Totti doesn’t want to discuss the summer market.

“I don’t want to get involved in discussing transfer plans,” he stressed.

“I’m happy with the newcomers so far. John Arne Riise is a good player – he just needs to learn Italian – while Simone Loria is so powerful.”

A crowd of 50,000 are expected to watch Roma play Africa’s most decorated side this evening.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the Lupi are closing in on Real Madrid’s Julio Baptista after a long telephone call between the two clubs last night.

good to hear that from him, i think he knows how bad was the after effect he got when he made it to the wc and suffered a bit later.now im saying he should miss it but he did a very respectable sacrifice wch at that time it was needed.now he realizes that he can take it easier and concentrate on coming back wth 200% al clear.

Francesco Totti could make his Roma comeback on Thursday after scoring a cracking goal in training today.

The captain has been out of action since snapping the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the 1-1 draw with Livorno on April 19.


He was expected to be sidelined for at least six months, but has rocketed through the recuperation process.


This evening Totti brought a smile to fans’ faces when he scored a great goal in a game between ranks.


Er Pupone shimmied past a defender with a dummy and blasted a right-foot strike into the top corner.


It is now believed he could make his official comeback in Thursday’s friendly test with Serie B side Frosinone.


If he does well there, it is not out of the question Totti could feature in the Italian Super Cup clash against Inter on August 24.


However, he will not travel to London for the match with Tottenham on Sunday.

hmmm....well if he is that ready, i guess it wont hurt to be given 45' in friendly wth a serie b' team.

I would give him 10-15 min tops against Frosinone. I think Roma beat them 1-0 last year...Roma can't lose to Frosinone...another city rival.
