Totti to miss Milan? Wednesday 24 October, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are fears that Roma captain Francesco Totti may miss out on the Giallorossi’s crunch match against Milan this weekend.

Er Pupone limped off in the 35th minute of the capital club’s win over Sporting Lisbon last night with an ankle injury.

While these are worrying times for the Magica, the only relief is that it was not the ankle that underwent recent surgery.

The Roman talisman picked up the knock after just six minutes in a collision with Liedson and played on for half an hour before being replaced by Mirko Vucinic.

The Montenegrin proved to be the hero and may be called upon against the Rossoneri, but he claims that he would rather Totti recovered.

“I hope that I don’t play against Milan,” he insisted. “Because that would mean that Francesco didn’t recover and he is too important to us.”

Totti will undergo test later today and these should give a better understanding as to the extent of the injury.

Well he's out of the game against Milan, he should be fit for the Roma Derby though.

Totti to miss Rome derby too? Saturday 27 October, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Francesco Totti has officially been ruled out of the Milan match, but his ankle injury also risks his place in Wednesday’s Rome derby.

The Roma captain is not in the squad named by Luciano Spalletti for the trip up to San Siro ahead of Sunday afternoon’s showdown.

The Coach had warned that Totti was unlikely to recover in time for the game after suffering a badly bruised ankle during the 2-1 Champions League victory over Sporting Lisbon.

“It is very difficult to see Totti on the field against Milan on Sunday and Rodrigo Taddei is also in doubt,” Spalletti had said on Friday.

Totti limped off during the first half of that tie, as Liedson had run out from the defensive wall to go for the ball as the Italian was taking a touched-on free kick.

It was the right ankle – not the one that underwent surgery last year and risked ruling him out of the 2006 World Cup – but it is still a painful injury with remarkably bad timing for the Giallorossi.

Totti has not trained since the Sporting Lisbon game and time is running out, as the derby against Lazio is on the evening of Halloween.

“Without Totti Roma lose a great deal and so does football,” added Milan star Kaka when told of the news.

“It would be better for my team, obviously, but it’s not good for the sport to face Roma without their captain and symbol.”

Mirko Vucinic is expected to take over in the forward role after scoring his first goal of the season against Sporting midweek.

Roma squad: Antunes, Barusso, Bergagnoli, Brighi, Cassetti, Curci, Cicinho, De Rossi, Doni, Esposito, Ferrari, Giuly, Juan, Mancini, Mexes, Panucci, Perrotta, Pit, Pizarro, Tonetto, Vucinic

even that is doubt now.

I've got a feeling he'll play on Wednesday, even if he isn't 100% fit.

Totti micro-fracture mystery Sunday 11 November, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is confusion over the extent of Francesco Totti’s injury after Bruno Conti suggested it was a micro-fracture to the foot.

The Roma captain limped off during the 2-1 win over Sporting Lisbon on October 23 and has not played since.

An interview with technical director Conti raised more questions over what exactly is preventing Totti’s comeback.

“The first tests showed a micro fracture to the foot and it is causing him a lot of pain. He has to be the one to tell us when he no longer feels that,” said Conti.

“Until it heals and everything returns to normal, he will continue to be in pain. It is a delicate spot, as it’s where he kicks the ball and you cannot put any protection there.”

However, the media storm was quickly soothed by the Giallorossi medical staff, who rushed to explain the situation.

According to news agency Agr, Totti’s injury is a bruise or blood clot inside the bone of his right foot towards the ankle.

The reason this confusion arose was because he is undergoing the same sort of treatment as would be required for a micro fracture.

The captain is expected to resume running next week and undergo new tests to see how the bruise is progressing.

Roma expect to have him back in action for the trip to Genoa.

Comotto in Alex attack Friday 16 November, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Torino captain Gianluca Comotto has launched a stinging attack on Juventus counterpart Alessandro Del Piero.

In an interview with La Stampa, the 29-year-old discussed the lack of loyalty in Italian football and surprisingly refuted the suggestion that Del Piero is a Juve talisman.

“Except for Francesco Totti, I don’t see any standard bearers in this country,” Comotto revealed.

“Not even Del Piero counts as he only renewed his contract with the Bianconeri when no other side offered him the same money.

“Totti, by contrast, made a choice to reject all other teams even if they offer more money.”

Ahahahah I love Gianluca. He was a former Roma player who we kept loaning out and eventually became the captain of Toro.Solid fullback.Sadly he didnt fit in with our plans.

He's a clueless twat.

Del Piero has accepted a wage decrease and it will continue to decrease every year he's still at the club. Alex accepted all of their demands.
