I heard from CH 4 that Spaletti will force Totti to be the penalty taker whether he likes it or not.

Trust me, Totti won't have to be forced to take them.
Despite his misses I seriously doubt he wants to give it up.

Not like Totti didn't try on the penalty....we've all been in situations like that....the mind games get to you!
Quote:
Totti makes peace with 'keeper
Saturday 3 March, 2007
Francesco Totti’s bitter row with Reggina goalkeeper Andrea Campagnolo has been put to rest by the intervention of a comedy programme.
The Roma captain had a series of altercations with the shot-stopper – a former Giallorossi youth team player – when his penalty was saved in the 3-0 win over Reggina.
There was pushing and shoving matched with offensive language both after the incident and at the final whistle.
In a bid to clear the air, comedy programme ‘Striscia la notizia’ sent over a camera crew along with former Inter defender Felice Centofanti to patch things up.
“Hello Francesco,” said Campagnolo in a video message. “I am sorry for what happened the other day. I really wanted to save that penalty.
“I know you understand and I apologise for the tension. You know I admire you a great deal as a person and a player.”
Centofanti, now a regular on the show, also visited Totti to show him the message from the Reggina goalkeeper.
“I was certainly happy to see this, as I have played alongside Campagnolo,” explained the Roma hero who has already missed six spot-kicks this term.
“It’s a tough time for me with penalties, because everyone says I can’t take them anymore. You know Felice, when we make a mistake, us Romans take it to heart.”
Campagnolo had used reverse psychology on Totti before the kick, telling him where he was going to shoot and what would happen.
“The goalkeeper said to me, ‘You’ll send it to my right and I will save it.’ It was a challenge. I thought I’d con him, as he was basically pushing me to send it to the left and I would stick to the right, but he ended up conning me.”

More Totti bashing......ridiculous......
Here's an email i wrote in Totti's defense....
Quote:
In light of the recent comments by Saverio regarding the "class” of Totti, one has to question why everyone is fixated or obsessed with Totti. Totti is the undisputed leader of Roma and current leading scorer in Italy. He’s been Roma’s best player every week and is responsible for the great season Roma is having. Therefore, there should be no reason why anyone should criticize him for his actions on the field. Saverio stated that Totti has no “class”. But how can a person who does numerous amounts of community service work, an ambassador for Unicef and donates many hours to charity events, have no “class”. Sure, he wears his heart on his sleeve and gets emotional when he plays. But one shouldn’t see that as a negative aspect, but as a positive. The game needs more players who are determined and play with heart. I admire Totti for his dedicated and strength on the field.
Also, where were the negative comments about Adriano this season. There were no comments about Adriano’s “class”, Saverio? Adriano was in terrible form for months. Was caught by the media drinking and partying at all hours of the night and recently wasn’t physically conditioned to play in the first leg of the CL due to a birthday party. Instead of the club punishing him, they decide to send him on a vacation to Brazil for a couple weeks of relaxation in the sun. These facts do not illustrate a player with “class”.
A person is judged for the amount of “class” by their actions in life. One cannot condemn a person by an occasional act that is inappropriate. Totti is a well respect player by his fellow colleagues and a responsible husband and father. His “class” is determined by what his actions are off the pitch, not by what he does on the pitch!

To say he has no class is wrong BUT I think it's perfectly acceptable to critisise some of aspects of his behaviour on the pitch at times. He's a hot head, we all know that. His passion is good for the team but sometimes he goes over the top, we've already seen some examples of that this season.
The real question is would you drop Totti because of his behaviour or does his contribution to the team completely offset all the negative press he gets? I don't need to answer that, it's obvious.

He has one read card this season...for a player who scored 16 goals so far...i'll take a hot head on my team any day. It just upsets me that he receives so much negative publicity. He can score a fabulous volley against Samp this season, and people put him on the level as Ronaldinho. Then they refer to him as a classless player who is selfish. Never ends! But i guess that's the price he has to pay for legendary status! Your comment above is exactly why Donadoni is trying ever so hard to get Totti in his lineup!

Fvck the attitude. If he produces then why not play him?
Porto's Quaresma was the same way, too cocky but he Got the Job done.

Totti managed to control his temper from the start of the season. He was holding back quite a few times, but he will never be calm and reserved on the pitch. It's not in his blood. He has an attitude, but for what he provides on the pitch...well worth the gamble!

The spitting incident towards the Denmark player is disgusting. There should be no part in soccer for that type of nonsense.
Totti is cocky and arrogant. He doesn't care what people think. Just Give him the lavish lifestyle, Hot GF and fvck everything else.
