MD4: Roma - Parma
Quote:
Roma will look to bounce back from defeat against Inter by taking three points at the Stadio Tardini against a Parma side yet to find their feet this term.
New Parma Coach Stefano Pioli has had a far from ideal start in charge of the Ducali. His side were forced to settle for an opening day draw with Torino after conceding a last-gasp equaliser, and the fixture list has been unforgiving since pitting them against Milan and Fiorentina.
The most worrying aspect of the Gialloblu’s shaky start has been their timidity in front of goal - Pioli’s men have only found the net once so far. While there were positives to be taken from Wednesday’s narrow 1-0 defeat against Fiorentina, the time has come for the Crociati to show the ferocious spirit that saw them upset Inter and hold Juventus last term.
Roma’s Scudetto bid received a blow with a midweek defeat at home to Inter. The performance came as a disappointment to the Olimpico faithful after two comfortable wins to start the season. Coach Luciano Spalletti admitted that his side were second best and has called for a response. He will especially want to see more from summer signing David Pizarro who scored against Siena in Week 2 but was surprisingly tame against the Nerazzurri.
The omens are good for the visitors. Roma thumped Parma twice last season – 3-0 and 4-1.
Fernando Couto, Luca Bucci and Zlatan Muslimovic are all back in training but are not match-fit. Ex-Roma defender Damiano Ferronetti trained separately from his teammates but has overcome a mild injury worry. Pioli received a late blow as defender Massimo Paci was handed a two-match ban by the disciplinary panel as he was adjudged to have simulated receiving an elbow by Luca Toni on Wednesday.
Spalletti must do without Brazilian midfielder Amantino Mancini until mid-October after he limped off against Inter. Fellow Brazilian Rodrigo Taddei is still sidelined with an ankle injury. Summer signings Mirko Vucinic and Gilberto Martinez will have to wait a little longer for their Giallorossi debuts as they are still injured.
Man on fire: Alexander Doni (Roma) – Brazilian ‘keeper was excellent against Inter making stops from Hernan Crespo, Fabio Grosso and stopping a penalty – albeit a soft one – from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Last season: Parma 0-3 Roma
Form guide: Parma (D L L - -) Roma (W W L - -)
Parma (probable): De Lucia; Coly, Cardone, Contini, Castellini; Ciaramitaro, Grella, Gasbarroni, Morfeo, Pisanu; Budan
Roma (probable): Doni; Panucci, Chivu, Mexes, Tonetto; De Rossi, Pizarro, Cassetti, Perrotta, Aquilani; Totti

It will be tough encounter following our injury room getting busier. Another good team play might ensure us at least a good 2-0 win.

I think we shouldn't field the above formation...I dont really have faith in Cassetti...instead I think we should put Il Capitano upfront with another striker so instead reducing the number of MF's to 4, and...
Doni; Panucci, Chivu, Mexes, Tonetto; De Rossi, Pizarro, Perrotta, Aquilani; Totti, STRIKER (Montella or Okaka)
This should reduce our injury problems with both Taddei and Mancini being sidelined. This formation should work better.

4 CM's is not cool lol. 4-3-2-1 with aquilani playing behind totti. taddie should be ready i hear. if not its time to field casseti. we've also got a match against valencia that we should be worried about as well. montella should be subbed in the 60th minute for totti. rosi should be subbed for perrota at around the same time and finally okaka should come on for aquilani thus making it a 4-4-2 near the end of the game. of course i highly doubt that will happen.

not getting a good feeling about this game...i hope our confidence hasnt diminished due to the lose and the injuries. Think we will prevail 1-0! Pizzarro! We have to keep an eye out for Morffeo...he looked dangerous against milan last week!

For me?
Roma 2-0 Parma with goals from Il Capitano and Pizarro...with Tonetto giving brilliant crosses

montella says his fit but then again its up to spalleti if to field him or not, bsides taddei will be out for the valencia game too.its a good sign if he recovers in time wth mancini...though both of them will be sideline for up to 2/3 weeks
maybe for this game we should go wth a traditional 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 wth Il capitano...wth nature of our injury problems

4-0.....great game...looks like Parma will strugle all season long! I dont believe totti played his best game...seemed a little off...he still managed to get some good passes together though! maybe he is saving himself for CL this week! overall, good game....glad to see us back near the top of the table!

ya totti wasnt great. but his passing was still good. sadly he didnt have his shooting boots on. impressed with rosi. his first start of the season and gets a goal. did pretty well on the right from what i saw. montella looks fit. and good goal. was a little surpised that he did a bicycle kick which i thought was the cause of his prior injury, but it lead to a goal so i cant complain. aquilani should have scored 3 but still proud of him. he tends to give up near the end of games tho and does silly fouls but im sure he'll mature. man of the match has to be de rossi. he simply dominated the midfield. great game from him. especially how he set up the second goal for perrota. feeling pretty good about the valencia match we have comming up ( although they wont be showing it here ).
EDIT: ferrari was great as well. really looks good out there.

It would be honest to say that I was correct...Totti produced an excellent example of playmaking and passing...Perrotta scored on top of his hard work in the Mf and Tonetto really was able to get the ball up the pitch quickly showing off great skill.
Overall I'm very pleased with this performance eventhough we played without Taddei and Mancini we have great reserves!
Looking ever so forward to the Valencia match and hope we can reproduce games like the ones in Serie A.
