Default Roma will finish fourth, says Conti

Roma will finish fourth, says Conti Tuesday 11 April, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bruno Conti is optimistic that Roma will end the season with a place in next season’s Champions League.

The Giallorossi are just a point above rivals Fiorentina in fourth with only five games of the season remaining.

Although the Viola are still in with a fighting chance of ruining the capital club’s dream, the legendary Olimpico hero is remaining relaxed.

“We are all calm,” said Roma’s technical director. “All of the players in the squad are just taking each game as it comes.

“The boys are following the leadership of Coach Luciano Spalletti and they have continued to do well during the moments of difficultly.”

Roma did make a sluggish start to the campaign, but a record-breaking run of consecutive League victories saw them firstly cut the Viola’s advantage over them before Sunday’s overtaking move.

“We played a great game against Fiorentina,” continued Conti following the recent 1-1 draw between the two rivals. “But there is still some way to go yet.

“We don’t believe that we have already done enough, but I’m confident because I see the way we train in the week and that leaves me optimistic.”

Aw I love Bruno. What he says is true, but I'm not as optimistic as him.
