Roma vs Dynamo
Quote:
ROME, September 15 (Champions League) - Roma's Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev was abandoned on Wednesday night after referee Anders Frisk was struck by an object thrown from the crowd.
Swedish official Frisk was making his way to the dressing rooms at the interval when he was hit on the head by what appeared to be a coin.
Frisk had seconds earlier sent off Roma's French international defender Philippe Mexes for a petulant kick at Kiev striker Maris Verpakovskis.

What the hell, don't they have a backup?

sometimes i really get angry with my fellow romanisti, so mexes shouldn't have got a red but throwing a LIGHTER at the ref, that's just pathetic. Frisk was badly injured, now we're facing SERIOUS repercussions and frankly i wouldn't be surprsied if we get thrown out.
As a Romanista this day has been totally crap, first of all there's the whole Cassano episode, then was the game which was just dire, a pathetic display. Nothing was working, we were trying to hoof the ball up the feild for gods sake. Then mexes got sent off during half time and THEN some eejit throws a metal lighter/coin at the referee.
Just when you think thinsg couldn't get worse they seem to. I am angry, annoyed, disappointed and quite upset.
The last thing the club needs is bad publicity.

Mexes was definally a red card, i think if that was an premiership based player he would have been given an extra 2 or 3 game ban.
Really saddens me to see that incident i saw. They even caught it on tv the guy throwing the lighter or whatever it was. Disgraceful antics, i know its hard for roma to control but they are to blame. The 3 points should rightly go to dinamo and maybe a fine is possible. I know its very hard to control this but in the premiership grounds we have seen a big cut down on this and are controlled very well know. This is something you would see more in the 80s in english grounds and its not the first time an icident has occured at Rome.
The one thing i just dont get was 'the 4th official was not experienced enough' wtf it is 45 minutes of football and he is not good enough. Why was he bought to the game then? Just ridicolous.

I'm not really sure how this can ever be controlled. I believe the team should be fined, Mexes should get a suspension, BUT the teams should play that half they missed. Its only fair to the players and fans, who conduct themselves in a professional manner.

You still get lighters thrown at games in england, I was watchning Arsenal play the other day and someone threw a lighter at Henry.
As for incidents in Rome, yeah sadly our fans and the laziale do do stupid things from time to time. I.E the derby. But the policing is just awful, after all this SURELY something needs to be done.
With the Mexes thing, i've heard from another (and therfore bias) Romanista that the other guy just totally fell over and that when Mexes offered his hand to help him up the other dude just refused. Having said that it as a stupid thing for Mexes to do, especially as he was only playing due to a suspended ban.
If it's not the fans it's the players. Forza Roma!

They'll never up the intensity of the policing, we've been saying this for years but IMO most of the police in Rome are too involved in the games themselves, or they seem to be whenever I've been, compared to the police at English matches.

English are way too proud of their Football!
I'm not from Roma so I can't say anything about their polices but trust me in the EPL I've seen some terrible things that could've been avoided if the police had paid attention.

Damn Roma again, I mean something should really be done about those fans (not all but the idiots among the crowd)
First against Galatsaray then the derby, then at the san siro against Milan and now this ...
This wont only hurt Roma but the whole country and its reputation. I read Hoddle has said some bad words about Italians in general, that's just one example. All newspapers around the world will show pictures from Frisk's bleeding head ...
I blame Galliani for this aswell, he didn't have the guts last season to fine Roma heavely so the Roma fans think they can do it again ...
Damn, I'm sorry if I have offended anyone but I'm just too angry at the moment

Lets be honest and I know that I am going to upset the Italian fans on this forum but they have a major problem over there and still nothing gets done about it. There is a massive political agenda amongst the fans and dare I say it but Roma and Lazio have extreme right-wing supporters that follow there respective clubs. Lazio especially, most black players have had a really hard time in Italy and the Italian authorities are now nearer to solving these problems. They just turn a blind eye. Now they are starting to attack referees, what next? I have been to grounds in Italy and when I got a friend to translate the meaning of certain banners I was absolutely shocked. There is no way that we could hold up banners like that in England. Until something drastic is done to penalise the Italians I am afraid this sort of thing will continue. I believe the only way you can eradicate this is to ban all Italians clubs like they did after Heysel for it to have any immediate effect.

Roma supporters are left-wing not right wing, why the hell do yo think they hate the lazio supporters so much.
Also it wouldn't be fair to ban all italian clubs because of one or two Roma fans.
Lets all go and bow down to the mighty FA and england who do everything right and have never had problems in the past.

Your somewhat correct, but we have done allot to curve that. I also have news for you, its not just Italy that the ultra right wingers have a foothold. Germany,Greece and many Eastern European cities have the same problem. Also, its not right to put down a whole league, for one incident that happened at one game. Everybody knows that Roman fans are hardcore, its an isolated problem. At least our fans have not killed a dozen or more people at a game, the same can't be said for the English.
England is plagued by problems also, so don't make it out to be a Utopia of pleasentness.
Lastly, you never upset me, since I know how you feel about Italy, Italians and Serie A in general, so I take your comments with a "grain of salt". This is a forum, and we are allowed to have different opinions.

Mexes kicked out at him on purpose. He saw the whistle blown for half time so he thought yes a great time to kick him. Even if he was wound up by the player, there was really no need for it and i wouldnt have expected that from mexes. I would refuse to shake mexes hand if he kicked me.
I saw his performance on the weekend and he looks a hell of a player and perfect for roma, but really you cant do that especially in the big games.

True the crime at English grounds is usually more of a problem than in Italy, but when the big problems flare up like in the Roma derby the police just aren't active enough. When I last went to a game in 2003 I was chatting to one of the police outside the ground about the Roma away shirts! He wasn't exactly eagle-eyed to touts or whatever.
