GOOD NEWS! Totti's thoughts of Prandelli
Francesco Totti and Arrigo Sacchi claim Cesare Prandelli is the right man for the Roma job.
“Prandelli is the one we needed at this moment in time,” commented the Giallorossi captain after the appointment was confirmed this weekend.
“I know that he is a Coach who can be relied upon and I hope he can help us toward the Scudetto.”
This is the first major post for the former Parma and Venezia boss, but he has shown in the last two years at the Stadio Tardini that he can finish in the top five despite losing star players.
Roma are forced to rebuild after financial problems forced the sale of Walter Samuel, Jonathan Zebina, Francisco Lima and with all likelihood Emerson, not to mention the sudden departure of Fabio Capello.
Totti refused to comment on Capello’s shock switch to rivals Juventus and when asked to wish his former boss luck he smiled, “Who?” (Totti is great)
Arrigo Sacchi believes that Cesare Prandelli is ready to lead Roma into a new era, but warns he may suffer from the impatience of the fans.
“He has proved this season that he is more than worthy even under difficult circumstances,” noted the Parma director. “My only doubt is that the Capital city may put excessive pressure on him to deliver immediately.”
“We at Parma have mixed emotions at this time,” added the former Italy boss. “It is sad to wave goodbye, but at the same time we are pleased for Prandelli taking this step up in his career.”
Roma’s new tactician particularly impressed for his work with young players such as Alberto Gilardino, Matteo Ferrari and Daniele Bonera. He’ll need that experience, as the Giallorossi will be forced to sell many of their top stars and rely on Under-21 internationals Daniele De Rossi and Gaetano D’Agostino.
“Prandelli has been one of the best Italian Coaches over the last two years,” concluded his mentor Sacchi. “We wish him the best of luck and he deserves success, both as a Coach and a man.”
