Jason Kreis 34. the new coach
Analysis: Kreis may be on the move
Decision expected soon on Kreis' future
04:38 AM CST on Monday, November 15, 2004
FC Dallas will lose players this week. One possible loss could sting like no other in club history.
Jason Kreis, the league's all-time leading scorer, the local team's captain and the only player who has been with the club since opening day in 1996, seems bound for another MLS destination.
All MLS clubs must submit a list of 12 players on Monday to protect before Friday's expansion draft for Real Salt Lake and Chivas USA.
Kreis, soon to turn 32, probably won't appear on FC Dallas' list. He may not be an FC Dallas member by Friday.
Real Salt Lake coach John Ellinger is a big fan of the man who has 91 goals in nine MLS seasons. The 1999 league MVP and six-time club MVP could move on Monday in a trade, most likely to Salt Lake. MLS is permitting a one-day trade window prior to the expansion draft. Kreis declined to comment Sunday.
FC Dallas general manager Greg Elliott says several scenarios remain for Kreis, who had his least productive season in 2004. He scored five goals in 25 appearances coming off reconstructive knee surgery.
Kreis, who prefers to start, wants to be with the club as it moves into the new 21,000-seat Frisco stadium set to open in May. That remains a possibility at a reduced salary.
FC Dallas' focus is on fast-rising U.S. international Eddie Johnson and obtaining a marquee international striker. Kreis may be the odd man out

I think it's time for Kreis to move on. Dallas should've given him more playing time this season and maybe they would've done better.

I would think Dallas would try to make a trade and he may end up with the Metrostars, cause even a draft pick would be better than nothing for him.

If I were RSL, I would've taken a gamble on Adin Brown. They were lucky to get Pierce so late, why were the Revs so stupid?
