RSL, Rapids and their fans today announced their annual competition will be the Rocky Mountain Cup.

Good stuff.

Default Utah State Sen Bramble house vandalized in the name of Soccer

1. WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

"It didn't damage anything, other than cause some real anxiety with my wife and kids. The fact is a debate of ideas is fine. But when people start writing messages on your driveway, your sidewalk, the street in front of your house and your wife and kids get concerned about it, that's out of bounds."
-- Utah State Sen. Curt Bramble, whose Provo home was vandalized with chalk messages on Saturday. A note was left saying he has declared war on soccer fans by sponsoring legislation that would prohibit using Redevelopment Agency funds for sport stadiums

"Bramble hates fans."
-- One of the messages left at Bramble's house. (Salt Lake Tribune)

"Real Salt Lake is saddened and disappointed by the vandalism of Senator Curtis Bramble's property in the name of soccer. Our deep sympathies go to the Bramble family. No one should ever be subject to the sort of uncivil and frightening treatment the Brambles faced this weekend. To fans of soccer, the message is simple. Enthusiastic support is one thing, but this sort of behavior is way over the line and unacceptable."
-- Statement released by Real Salt Lake

...but doesn't report it to the police nor take pictures of the incident. Oh but he finds the time to report it to the media.

If a soccer game is played and no one watches it, did it really happen?

What a shame that kind of crap goes on. It has nothing to do with being a fan.

RSL were at home for the first time this weekend, and had 25,827 show up for the game.
They also beat the Crapids 1-0 on a header by defender Dunseth in his first RSL game (81').
RSL is second in the West with 4 points.

They play West #1 Dallas in Dallas this Saturday.

The team has done well. Both on the pitch and at the gate.

3w 4l 2 d
18,186 -- though I realize that may drop after some of the excitement has died down.

Its ok, because after they fudge the numbers with the WCQ coming up, RSL should have over 25,000 average at home.
