Sneijder - Back In Training
Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious injury against Arsenal.
The Dutchman was stretchered off just past the hour mark in Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Emirates Cup.
Sneijder was injured following a heavy challenge by Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby and it is feared the classy playmaker may have suffered a cruciate knee ligament problem.
Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster is unsure about the full extent of the injury, but expects to be without the former Ajax ace for a considerable period.
"We're really shocked by the injury and right now it's very difficult," Schuster said. "He's in a lot of pain.
"They've got to do a lot of tests and right now it doesn't look good.
"We're going to lose him for a little bit."
Real president Ramon Calderon admitted the injury was a major blow to the player and club.
"It's serious and it's the worst news we could get. He has, at the very least, torn his internal ligament," Calderon told Spanish news agency Efe.
"He is very upset, crying because it is a serious problem and very painful."
Sneijder is set to undergo scans on the injury on Monday to find out the full extent of the injury.
"Initial tests show serious damage to his knee ligaments, but the player will undergo complementary exams including an MRI on Monday to determine the full extent of the injury," a club statement read.
>> First of all a stupid tackle by ugly Diaby in a friendly match. Typical Real Madrid the last four-five years. Heavy injures on key players. One of the clubs hottest players will may be out for season 08/09.
Sneijder is almost irreplaceable. Madrid won't get in a replacer in his position. They should have rest Sneijder in that match too, since several key players for Madrid not played the match.

diaby needs to be seriously punished... he is notorious for violent tackles and causing severe injuries (i cant give examples... i remember one in particular, but cant remember the victim... any help?). he really is a shite, unprofessional player... dont know how he possibly gets a game at arsenal. he is a true c**t if you ask me.

Sneijder Only Out For Three Months
Quote:
Wesley Sneijder will only be sidelined for three months after doctors in Spain confirmed that he not damaged the cruciate ligament in his knee, according to Marca.
While the Dutchman will still face a spell on the sidelines is better than the early prognosis of up to six months without playing, which would have meant he would not be back until the New Year.
After tests in the hospital Sanitas de la Moraleja, Sneijder was told that he had partially torn the internal lateral ligament and could return to action in early November.
Abou Diaby is persona non grata in Madrid at the moment with Marca emblazoning their front cover on Monday with a picture of him entangled with the Dutch international below the headline 'Criminal Tackle'.
The Madrid-biased daily were outraged that the referee had not blown for a foul after the challenge during Madrid's 1-0 defeat by the Gunners in the Emirates Cup on Sunday.
A smaller picture of Sneijder in a wheelchair at the airport was also featured with the paper suggesting that he could be out for over half a year as first suggested by medics.
Early report did suggest that Sneijder would miss half of the new season and several of his team-mates, including Arjen Robben, as well as coach Bernd Schuster and president Ramón Calderón expressed their dismay.
The arrival of Rafael Van der Vaart at the club would have meant that he will have a replacement, but missing a month of pre-season training will mean that there will be plenty to do when he is able to run once more.

Good news for Real I guess. The original fear was that he was to be sidelined for 6 months. Today Van der Vaart announced his signing so this will definately ease the Sneijder loss.

Wasn't Diaby the one who kicked Terry's head to planet Mars?

Try this out. When she is about to say yes or no, pull back and say, "nah, I change my mind" and sort of walk away.
See what she does then. You will have basically turned the tables on her. Tried this a few times, always works.

If Diaby is the Flamini replacement we may be in for a long season for rough tackles on a normal basis.
Sad to hear about Sneijder though, his first 3 months at Real Madrid were magical, thought he might get back to that form this year.

here is the sneijder tackle
it may not look dangerous but especially in a friendly you don't launch yourself at a player like that and then you don't scissor cut (yeah I may have made that up ) the player.
Feel sorry for Sneijder but at least they have VdV as a replacement.

Sneijder Back In Action
Quote:
"Viva es-Sneijder!" Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder returned to training action today. This was his first time on the pitch of play since he suffered a serious knee injury in the friendly match against Arsenal a month ago today...
The creative midfielder left the pitch injured in the friendly match against Arsenal and Madrid feared for the worst. However, the pint-sized playmaker is recovering surprisingly quick.
“The recovery is going very well so far, but I don’t want to be too positivejust yet,” said Sneijder to De Telegraaf.
“I was expected to be sidelined for at least three months, but it looks like I’m back a little bit quicker. However, I don’t want to target a date to be fully fit again. I’m living day by day now and we’ll see what happens.”
Meanwhile, the Dutchman was gifted the number 10 jersey at Madrid due to the transfer of Robinho. “Of course, it’s only a number, but it makes me feel proud to be wearing the number 10 jersey. It remains a special number,” he grinned.
Additionally, Rafael van der Vaart was handed the previously-vacant number 23. The former HSV player had number 23 for most of his career, but his number was taken by Sneijder before.

Massive boost for Real. Originally it was looking like 6 months. Then it was ruled 3 months but Sneijder will be back in training after just a month. He'll need a few weeks to recover fully but he's almost back already.
Also interestingly he's the new no.10.
