Default Granero Signs For Getafe

Granero Signs Five-Year Getafe Deal

Quote:

Getafe CF have announced the capture of Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero on a five-year deal...

The Azulones enjoyed the services of 'The Pirate' last year on a loan deal, during which he starred alongside fellow Madrid alumnus Rubén de la Red.

De la Red has since returned to the Bernabéu by virtue of a buy-back deal, and it seemed as though Granero was also likely to remain in the white shirt: as recently as last month he stated that his goal was to break through into Bernd Schuster's first team for 08-09.

Now, though, Geta have officially announced that the 21-year-old is to grace the Coliseum once more next season as he pens a five-year deal.

However, like de la Red his transfer comes complete with a buy-back clause that could see him return to Real Madrid at any given time.

Granero made 19 Liga starts and eight substitute appearances, chipping in with four goals and a wealth of assists. An attacking midfielder, he was mainly deployed on the left-hand side of the pitch, although he also played centrally.

Also of note was his UEFA Cup form, which entailed four goals in nine appearances during the Azulones' run to the quarter-finals.

The Madrid-born ace has never made a Liga appearance for Real Madrid.

They say he's one of Madrid's biggest talents but Madrid are not giving Castilla players a chance again.
