French sports daily L'Equipe claims that Olympique Marseille captain Lorik Cana is apparently under observation from Real Madrid...
The Spanish side's interest in one Marseille player, Samir Nasri, is well-known, but it now seems as though the Albanian international is another target.
The defensive midfielder, who plied his youth trade with Lausanne in Switzerland, rose to prominence with Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the decade before switching to OM in 2005.
He's been virtually an ever-present since his arrival on the south coast, and was appointed as skipper this season.
A series of impressive performances both at home and in Europe have apparently tempted Real Madrid, although Cana has already stated this month that he's in no hurry to secure a move elsewhere.
"I'm very pleased at Marseille," he said after his side's 3-1 win over Lyon.
"The goal of any player is to compete in the Champions League, but I wish to do so with OM.
"If the club can do all it can during the seasons run-in - and pursues this policy of stability and ambition - then I see no reason to leave."
If Marseille finish in the top three, then, Cana may decline to leave the Vélodrome even if Madrid's interest proves to be concrete.
Cana, 24 years old, has 29 caps for his country.
