Real ready to spend 100M pounds on C. Ronaldo
Real Madrid are ready to bid a world record £80 MILLION for Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.
The offer will succeed the £70 million Real indicated they were willing to pay last year, says La Sexta. However, sources close to United insist the board won't consider the amazing offer - as it still doesn't meet their valuation.

Sky Sports News qupted a price £20m higher
Quote:
Spanish reports claim Real Madrid have decided to offer Manchester United a world-record £100million for Cristiano Ronaldo.
It is believed Real told United last summer they would pay up to 120million euros for the Portuguese star.
The Red Devils made it quite clear they had no plans to sell Ronaldo - but the wonderful form of player, which has seen him score nearly 40 goals this season, will prompt a new bid.
Real have made little secret of their desire to lure Ronaldo to the Spanish capital and now La Sexta is claiming that an incredible £100million bid is imminent.
La Sexta - who have the rights to La Liga television coverage in Spain, are said to have close ties with high-ranking Real officials, from where the news on the possible bid have emanated.
However, it is also being reported that despite the huge bid, Real are not expecting United to accept the deal.
The current world record for a footballer is already held by Real, after they £46million to Juventus for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.
Recent speculation intensified after it was reported in Spain that Real's sporting director Predrag Mijatovic met with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes in London and Rome in recent weeks.

You'd have to think twice before rejecting that.

OMG
The season of 2007/2008 is not even over yet, and the media have already started to link players to Real Madrid. Both Madrid and ManUtd are playing for Gold in their leagues + Red Devils still are in the CL.
I really doubt Real Madrid will give £100million for C.Ronaldo. IF that will come through, why shall ManUtd (one of the richest club in the world) sell? Or will the americans accept and take the money?
However, Madrid should focus on other positions. IMO Arjen Robben and Robinho are one of the best wingers in Europe, and Madrid can use money to reinforce other positions like buying in a new central offensive midfielder, a new defender or a new striker.
I want players like Kaka, Huntelaar, Benzema, or a new worldclass defender instead of C.Ronaldo. Of course I want ManUtds number 7 in the spanish capital, but not for a price like £100 mill.

£100m would be all of the kitty and I think they need to strengthen other positions like AM or a Striker.
As much as United love him tho I think they's sell anyone for £100m, the Americans would probably accept. They could get a good replacement for £15m and they still have Nani coming through.
I do think Ronaldo will leave United, probably for Madrid but not for a good 2-3 years yet.

More than 2-3 years mate. United are a better team (on the field). And he's their star player.
imo he's priceless. 39 goals in 39 games speaks for itself.

Who could replace Ronaldo for £15M? I don't think he can be replaced.

Agreed here, Ronaldo's happy in Manchester, is rewriting records and winning both individual and team awards, what more does he need for the next few years?

He is the best best player in the world right now, and Man Utd shouldn't sell him. But for 100M pounds

They are stupid if they don't sell him. He has peaked, I can't see him adding more to his game, and with that money, they can add some need depth.
As they say, "sell high, buy low". The fact that Real Madrid are interested, you should tell all of you something.

Where does the team need depth which it can't already afford though?
If United sold Ronaldo it would just mean they'd have to find a very good replacement, which would be bloody difficult.
And if a suitable replacement isn't found United won't win as much as they would with Ronaldo, so the club would lose money like that...
And you say he's peaked but has he? People doubted whether he could get better after last season but he did. Even if he doesn't improve on his performances this season, if he can maintain it or just get close to it he'd still be a world beater.

I agree with that. Ronaldo still has something more to give, I don't think he has reached his full potential yet, he is close, but IMO he can still give Utd a bit more.
I don't think Utd would sell, even for 100 million. It's a crazy offer, but Utd aren't in need for money, as far as I know, and selling their best player, regardless of what fee, is never a good thing. Specially when your best player is also your top scorer.
And Utd is built around Ronaldo, they'd have to completely change their style. I don't see it happening.

The club could add more depth up front, buy a cheaper alternative and more defenders or fullbacks. Every club can improve, including United.
Here we go again. People take things the wrong way.
I'm actually saying that Ronaldo is incredible and at the top of his game.
However, 100 million, you take the money, because if his form does suffer in the next few seasons, you will regret it.
If United don't win the CL or the Premiership, then that tells me, that he might not be the player to lead the club.
And as for United losing money, I'm not really sure what drives the club or its transfers. All I know is that somebody is getting rich, as I don't see it on the pitch.

However, this £100million transfer is just 100 % rumours invented up by some writers from silly sites on the internet.
It all started that Pedja where in Rome and Manchester to watch Roma-ManUtd....but he were also in London to watch Chelsea-Fenerbache.
After that, Drogba, C.Ronaldo, De Rossi, Mancini etc have been linked. If we shall follow all the rumours about linked players to Madrid, they'll buy between 80-100 footballers this summer.
That C.Ronaldo will end up in Madrid or Barcelona one day, no doubt, but he'll stay in Manchester for many more years. But the media loves to link him to Spain because of his quotes about loving La Liga and Real Madrid, + that they actually are able to bring him in.

Madrid would be foolish to pay that much, and Utd would be even more foolish to not accept it.
It's obviously bullshit though. No player is worth that.

I honestly think the deal suits neither party.
Real could spend the money better, but United don't particularly need the money as the debts seem stable and the team is winning so is producing money.
Losing Ronaldo would destabilise the team and like Oli said it would mean changing the way we play, that's more hassle than it's worth...
And Jager, yeah we need new strikers, although we have Manucho on loan at Panathinaikos and Fraizer Campbell on loan at Hull, but our transfer kitty in the summer should be enough for another.
And perhaps we need a new defender - although there are loads of young defenders who are supposed to have very bright futures on the books at United, like Pique & Evans who deserve a chance.
But yeah I'd say we need a new RB, especially if Brown leaves. But again, depending on what United wins by the summer we might have enough money for that too...
