Default Cup: Mallorca v Real Madrid, 3-1 agg

Mallorca 2 - 1 Real Madrid

24' [1 - 0] O. Trejo
25' [1 - 1] G. Higuain
50' [2 - 1] J.F. Arango

Once it finished, I remembered those words of Blaugrana:

So right Blaugrana was.

Anyway, Madrid will still go through, as I can't see Mallorca pulling a win in Bernabeu, where no team could manage to get at least a draw in this season.

As for this match, my friend, who supports Real Madrid, even before the match kick-off, he told me RMD are gonna loose? I ask him why, and he says "I don't know, just like that".

Other Madridistas knew you were gonna loose?

I knew that we should play a bad match and lose, and most of Madridista I know said the same.

Madrid are playing players like Salgado, Dudek, Torres, Higuain together with some key players and that will always go bad...espesially away against a La Liga team. 2-1 is then not a bad result away since it is a returmatch in Madrid.

Shame they'll probably still go through, unless Mallorca plays a very good match at Bernabeu. I can't see them keeping a clean sheet, meaning that Mallorca will have to score at least 1 time. Also, i think Madrid will play more starters next match, making it more difficult for Mallorca. But who knows, they may surprise us

I will not be surprised if Mallorca can do a good effort at Bernabeu and kick out Real Madrid from the Cup.

However, I'm agree with Schuster that some of the bench players are playing in this Cup. Its not an disaster If they shall go out from The Kings Cup. But ironically Raul and Robinho were together with Torres/Salgado our weakest players last night. Robinho SHOULD have rested as many of the other teamplayers.

Btw, I do not like that Diarra is in the African Cup. Madrid will miss him and I don't think Gago can do the same job as him.

Blau is always right

A draw is all Mallorca need and they have a decent record at the Bernabeu over the last few years so I'd probably say it's about 50-50 to see who goes through, if not slightly in Madrid's favour.

Most opponents are dangerous against Real Madrid at home. But I can't see why Mallorca shall be so special for Madrid at San Moix as mentioned here.

IF we compare Mallorca against Real Madrid since 2000, its only 32 % chances that Mallorca will win statistically home and 38 % to Real Madrid. At Bernabeu its over 56 % chances for Madrid victory while only 26 % for Mallorca.

Yes, Mallorca can do a lot of pain, but yesterdays victory over B-Madrid were in the cards.

Ironically but..

Real Madrid played a very good match. Created many good chances with high tempo. The only problem were to set the goal behind the Mallorca GK.

Gago-Guti is outstanding on the midfield. Gago did 90 % of his passes correct or something. Royston Drenthe showed tonight that he is a GREAT talent. He showed speed like Ronaldo, C.Ronaldo and co tonight.

65-35 % to Real Madrid and 15-1 in chances or something?

Yes, they went out of the Cup but its not end of the world. With so many injures, I'm glad they shall avoid these 'two' cup matches in the future.

Mallorca are cup specialists and although I think Schuster is diverting the subject and lots of Madrid fans say they don't care or it's a blessing in disguise, it is a disappointment for the club.

Madrid should have gone through on the match I saw but a great game from Moya and just not putting away chances made them suffer.

Madrid's Copa del Rey curse continues. They now haven't won the competition since 1993.

Every defeat for clubs like Real Madrid is a disappointment for the club, Path Murphy.

However, Schusters plan were to rest the key players in the cup and give the benchplayers some practice. Even they had to win last night, they rested Casillas, Van Nistelrooy, Raul, Robinho, Pepe from start + the injures of Heinze, Robben and Metzelder.

I defend it. What is Copa del Reyes? It has not the same status as in England and neither Barcelona, Real Madrid or Valencia have won it this century.

In Spain, its La Liga and Champions League for the big guns. Nothing else. Its almost no prestige in Copa del Reyes and almost no money to cash in.

Look at Barca now...they shall face Villarreal twice in the middle of CL and La Liga (where they have to win and win to make it)

Madrid played very good last night and had deserved to win with at least five goals, but I am not sad at all..maybe the other way around.

Btw, Saviola got injured last night and will probably be out for weeks.
