Schuster's highest point, lowest point and him now.

A profile on Real Madrid's imminent new manager Bernd Schuster.

His nickname was "The Blond Angel" and is well known for his trademark face fuzz and now stroking his moustache as he contemplates his next tactical move on the sideline.

Born in Germany he went on to become a German and La Liga legend and despite his status he only won 21 caps for the National team as he retired at the age of 24 due to big disagreements with the German Football Association.

His wife is a sports manager and used to be his at his peak and was named as "Bernd's dragon-like boss" at the time and Bernd would refuse to sign for even a bill in a resteraunt without her around.

He started off at 1. FC Köln and then moved to Barca and was largely seen as Barca's star midfielder of the 80's until he made a controversial move and buggered off to Real Madrid. He wasn't entirely succesful there and moved on to Atletico Madrid and then back to Germany with Leverkusen where he showed some of his best again. Despite perhaps not reaching his peak after an injury when he was 21 suffered to him by Bilbao's Goikoetxea he won the Bronze Ball twice, the Silver Ball once and was voted as the 40th greatest player in the last 5 decades in the UEFA Golden Jubilee Poll.
