Real Madrid searching for a DM
Quote:
Real Madrid are stepping up their bid for Roma midfield ace Daniele De Rossi.
El Mundo says De Rossi is a prime target for Real for next season and are planning a bid for the Italy international.
Also in the mix for Real are Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso and Dinamo Zagreb schemer Luka Modric.

Does it mean that Diarra is in his way out ??
I don't think so, he was very good recently, and I don't see any reason to sell him !!

Inter want Diarra, and I heard Real are ready to let him go.
Also, AC Milan are interested in Gago.
So that makes you guys in 'need' for a DM, I understand.
De Rossi? He's just another Totti, and I'm afraid another untouchable at Roma.
Real Madrid (together with other European top clubs as Arsenal, Bayern, etc) have shown interest on Lorik Cana.
Albanian, 24 years old, DM, Marseille captain.

If Real did sell Diarra then I seriously doubt they'd get back the £17m they paid for him which means they'd be cutting their losses and admitting that he wasn't worth the money they paid and trying to recouperate some of that.
Gago also was a high price, £14m unless I'm mistaken. I think selling Gago for less now would be a mistake as he's still very young and can develop into a top DM.
They could do a Saviola-Tiago swap but people say that Tiago is more of a CM than a DM and they'll have problems there again.

I really doubt Diarra and/or Gago will leave Madrid in January. Fernando Gago is a 'coming star' and Diarra hasn't been that bad. Both players are happy playing for Real Madrid too and both players were central in last seasons La Liga victory.
Papers are talking about De Rossi, Diego, Nasri and a lot of different footballers these days but I don't think none of this names will join in January.
What I hope is that players like Baptista, Soldado, Salgado are leaving in January. Saviola and Drenthe may leave too on loan or transfer and there have been some rumours about Saviola to Juve and Drenthe to Milan, and Mutu or Tiago to Madrid.
I don't know but time will show. Mutu had been a OK player to have in the squad, since Saviola not have taken his chance.

gago has been on awful form lately so maybe schuster wants to loan him in january or get someone better and bench gago...?
I think real madrid will be stupid to let diarra go. and as pat said, they won't get as much as they paid for him, so it won't make any sense at all (he was good).
DM is definately one of the positions real madrid need an improvement at.

I agree with most of what you said. De Rossi is very unlikely to leave Roma soon.
Mutu is as good, if not better than Raul, Saviola etc (on this seasons form). Mutu would be a great buy but he has said he is very happy at Fiorentina and that his family are settled there.
I'm suprised nobody has mentioned Mascherano, he's out of contract in the summer.
