Spanish Press: Quaresma Wants Real Madrid, Not Atletico

Mere hours after Atletico Madrid confirmed a renewed interest in Porto winger Quaresma, Spanish sports daily Marca alleged that the 24 year old has his heart set on a move to city rivals Real Madrid...


According to Spanish sports daily Marca, Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma is indeed hopeful of a return to Spain.

However, dsepite Atletico Madrid publicly admitting that they're still interested in the former Barcelona man, it seems that he has his eye on only one club.

Marca quotes him as telling his confidants, "I want to play for Real Madrid."

These alleged words come after Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo told the media of his continued desire to land the highly-rated wide midfielder, seemingly indicating that Quaresma is not willing to join the rojiblancos.

Another theory is that Atletico already knew of Quaresma's desire to move to the Bernabeu, with yesterday's statement serving as a prelude to a bidding war.

Atletico already have a host of attacking midfield talent; in numbers, perhaps they have even more than Real Madrid. As such, whether Quaresma would move to the Vicente Calderon even for better terms remains to be seen.

The highly-rated Portuguese international has arguably become Porto's finest asset since signing on from Barcelona in 2004.

please. first, the players' ability in a team has very little to do with the points they gain, or this is not football we are talking about?
second, one winger is not the whole team... porto has a winger who is better than your wingers, so? their whole squad is better than yours? quaresma is better than sneider means lisandro lopez is better than van nistelrooy?

maybe (instead) you can try and convince me why quaresma will have to fight for his place?

He played in barca and we all know what happened there. Don't know if he will have success with real as they pretty much spend the cash for any player who is a star calibre. Plus, I don't think Q-Boy would fit in, he is a selfish player at times and real have plenty of egos on that team.

Porto would be stupid to let him go, he is such a valuable player. Then again, money talks and the only way porto would sell him is if there was a big cashgrab.

I can't see Madrid offer a giant sum for Quaresma now. They used much money on Sneijder, Robben and Drente and have a very good Robinho right now.

Robben is soon fit for fight and Robinho is better than ever (much better than Quaresma today) and it had been wasted money to invest in such an expensive player for not using him as regular.

Robben, Robinho, Drenthe, Robinho, Marcelo and Sneijder are more than enough cover for the wing positions. I'm not syaing that Quaresma is a bad player then.
