Heinze reforzará la banda izquierda del Madrid - Marca.com

Very strong reports that Real Madrid have agreed a 12m Euro (£8m) deal to sign Gabriel Heinze from United.

Calderon and Schuster had an emergency meeting on Monday about what was needed next season. Schuster apparently asked for 2 positions. A LB and a no.9 striker.

Yes, very strong rumours now...

ManUtd will try EVERYTHING to avoid selling him to Merseyside too.

This can fix Madrids problems on the left with Heinze as LB and Drenthe as winger instead of Robben. Drenthe has also impressed in the preseason and is a very exciting player.

About this no.9 striker I don't think that will come. Real Madrid have Van Nistelrooy, Raul, Higuain, Saviola, Baptista and Soldado as strikers in the squad, so they're not 100 % dependent on a new, expensive striker....but if they can make Baptista/Soldado + cash in some kind of deal and bring in for example a striker like Millito...well welcome anyday.

Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze has agreed to join Real Madrid.

A statement on the Real Madrid website confirmed the two clubs had agreed a fee and Heinze will sign a four-year contract with the Spanish champions.

The Argentine had his heart set on a move to Liverpool and took his case to a Premier League tribunal after United refused to sell him to their rivals.

But after a League panel ruled against Heinze, the 29-year-old agreed to join Real for a reported £8m fee.

This would allow Madrid to play Drenthe higher up the pitch rather than using him to add another sheet of paper to a crack at LB. It could be a bad sign od Madrid's prospects for getting Robben, but you could still function nicely with them all in.

I'd think putting Heinze in at LB would create more problems than it would solve...

Heinze is much better than Miguel Torres and Marcelo + Drenthe now can play leftwing.

I reckon the team will be like this:

Casillas

Ramos - Cannavaro - Pepe - Heinze

Robinho - Diarra - Sneijder - Drenthe

Van Nistelrooy - Raul

Good cover in the defence and striker positions in Metzelder, Cicinho, Torres, Marcelo - Saviola, Baptista, Higuain, Soldado

J.M Guti and Fernando Gago as subs for the midfield. A bit skinny with backup for the left position, but Robinho can also play there and but Cicinho (if he stays) on the right wing.

This team will probably NOT win the league, but if they can finish top three and do a good effort in the CL and show advance...things will look good for 2008/2009.

Only Nistelrooy, Heinze, Cannavaro and Raul who is skilled and a bit aged. But Fernando Gago, Gonzalo Higuain, Saviola, Marcelo may develop and can take a place within a year.

Yeah, sad to lose him but Madrid got a good price and financed Heinzes transfer with the cash from Cicinho and Emerson.

Heinze May Be Out For Up To Two Months

Quote:
Gabriel Heinze could be out for up to two months after coming off early during his side's 2-0 win over Real Zaragoza, while Fabio Cannavaro awaits treatment for a sprained ankle...

zoom - galleria Gabriel Heinze's return to Liga action on Sunday evening ended in disappointment as he was taken off injured after just a quarter hour of play.

Missing the bulk of his side's hard-fought 2-0 win over Zaragoza, it now seems that he'll also have to skip between a month and a half and two months of competitive football after rupturing a leg muscle.

It's a bitter blow for the former Manchester United man, whose injury concerns have largely kept him confined to a bit-part at the Bernabeu this season.

Fabio Cannavaro, meanwhile, finished the match with a sprained ankle. The centre-back's knock is not thought to be anywhere near as serious as the Argentine's, but he will still undergo testing from club doctors on Tuesday morning.

The Madrid first team squad have Monday off as a day of rest, with training resuming at 11:30 local time on Tuesday morning.
