Marcelo out for 6 weeks
Carlos replacer on his way to Madrid.
Real Madrid will in all probability sign Fluminense and Brazil left-back Marcelo for 6.5 million euros. The 18 year-old will supposedly join Real Madrid next season, or in January.
Marcelo is just 18, but already a regular for Fluminense and is in the Brazil national team. Many says he is the new Roberto Carlos.
Sevilla are also trying hard to get the Brazilian wonderkid to their club.

The same was said about Cicinho when he came to Madrid, the next star Brasilian FB. Capello wanted to get rid of him. Going to have wait and c.

He was on the cover of Marca today, in an article saying that Sevilla were after him as well.
I must have seen him in Flu highlights this season, but he did not leave an indelible memory. Oh, but I do remember him playing against Wales, looked a better prospect than the Welsh fella, Bale. No doubt he will be billed as the next Roberto Carlos.
As long as he is Roberto Carlos c. 2006, and not Roberto Carlos c. 1999, I will be quite pleased.
The standard of defending in the Brazilian league makes Spain look Italy in the golden age.

Well, reports says that he is very equal in Robero Carlos playing style and a google search on him showing pictures of him and Carlos.
Cicinho was actually 26 years old then he signed for Real Madrid (and he is a great player) but may not good enough defence for Capello. Marcelo is 18 and when you have got caps for Brazil and regular for a big club in Brazil, you have a talent.
But I agree. Time will show. Rumours also says that Madrid will loan him out for one season.

Real Madrid agree deal for Brazil defender Marcelo
MADRID, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Fluminense's Brazil fullback Marcelo, club president Ramon Calderon said on Tuesday.
'He is an important signing for us. He is a young player who will inject some freshness into the side and is part of our plan to bring younger players into the squad,' Calderon was quoted as saying on sports daily Marca's Web site.
The 18-year-old international is reported to have signed until 2013 and could play the rest of this season in the club's youth team Real Madrid Castilla, who compete in the second division, to aid his transition to European football.
He will take a medical and could be presented on Wednesday.
Marcelo is seen as a long-term replacement for Roberto Carlos, and has many similar characteristics in that he is very quick and likes to join the attack.
He scored on his international debut in Brazil's 2-0 win over Wales at the beginning of September, and becomes the sixth Brazilian in Real's squad.
'Roberto Carlos is very happy and Marcelo is coming to replace him when he allows him to,' added Calderon.
Media reports put the fee for the player at between six and nine million euros which would take Real's spending on defenders since 2004 to almost 100 million euros.
That money was spent on players such as Argentine Walter Samuel, Englishman Jonathan Woodgate, Brazilian Cicinho, Italian Fabio Cannavaro and Spain's Sergio Ramos.

He has signed a deal from 2007 to 2012. Real Madrid shall pay €3 mill in January and €3mill in July. That's not much for a 18 years old lad that already has played for Brazils national team.
You can compare him with Roberto Carlos. He has speed and a very powerful left-foot.
IMO he should play one season for Castilla in Seguenda. He is just 18 years old and Roberto Carlos is still in the club.
Calderon also told that they'll sign another wizkid in near future. Gonzalo Higuaín!?
Some info:
He's 18 years old and in Brazil he's already considered the heir apparent to Roberto Carlos. In fact, he has already played with, and scored for, the Brazilian national team. Marcelo Vieira Da Silva Júnior, Marcelo, is ready to make the jump to European football, and Real Madrid consider him a valuable addition to the team during the winter transfer window.
Marcelo Vieira Da Silva Júnior, otherwise known as Marcelo, has been defined as an authentic “jewel” of always prolific Brazilian football, a breeding ground of players that has been directly related to Real Madrid over several years. He began playing futsal when he was nine, and by the age of 13 was already a youth team player for Fluminense, the Club he still plays for. Coming from a humble background, Marcelo came close to quitting the Fluminense football school because his parents couldn't afford the bus ride that would take him to Flu's facilities. Thankfully, the Club covered the cost and made sure the youth team jewel of the tricolor team didn't slip through their fingers. Once a fixture on the First Team, it was only a a matter of time before he made the leap to the Brazilian national team
-where the ‘3’ position has been left vacant since Roberto Carlos left- followed shortly thereafter by Europe.
Several Clubs were interested in signing Marcelo, but two in particular stand out for their keen interest in young promises of the football world: Olympique Lyonnais -Real Madrid's opponent in the Champions League- and Sevilla. His name has also been linked to two Italian powerhouses, Juventus and Roma. However, when all was said and done, it was Real Madrid who landed the future star. Marcelo, the young pearl of Brazilian football, will join Real Madrid and fellow countrymen Roberto, Ronaldo, Robinho, and Emerson in January.

Marcelo primed for Racing loan
Quote:
Real Madrid look set to loan new signing Marcelo to Primera rivals Racing Santander.
Real paid Fluminense €7 million (£4.5 million) to secure the 18-year-old left back earlier in the week with the Brazilian youngster tipped to become Roberto Carlos' long-term successor at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, Real will look to blood him in the European game by sending him to Santander for the second half of the season.
Marcelo will not be eligible to play until the transfer window reopens in January, but his capture would represent a sizeable coup for the Cantabrians.
Real appear happy to consent to the transfer having disappointed Racing in the summer by backing out of a deal to sell them Ivan Helguera at the very last minute.

Wise move. He will get experience in La Liga and so long as Carlos is in the club and Bravo as backup, its a great deal for both parts.

New Real Madrid left back Marcelo will miss six weeks with an ankle problem. The 18-year-old picked up the injury after his debut for Los Merengues in the 2-0 loss against Deportivo at the weekend.
Marcelo was signed from Fluminese in his native Brazil this transfer window but has turned his right ankle and is unlikely to feature until March.
Meanwhile midfielder Guti's ankle injury is less serious than initially feared and he could return within the fortnight according to club doctors.
