Real consider Rio swoop!!

http://skysports.planetfootball.com/...el=premiership

Real Madrid are plotting a big-money move for Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.

The Spanish giants are reportedly aiming to take advantage of the delay in the England international signing a new contract at Old Trafford.

Ferdinand has been locked in talks with United for the past couple of months but an accord to extend his deal beyond 2007 has yet to be reached.

Red Devils chief executive David Gill revealed over the weekend that there is no hitch in the negotiations and he anticipates the centre half to stay with the club.

The former Leeds United ace has also stressed that he wants to remain in Manchester but speculation of an imminent bid from Real is gathering pace.

Reports claim that Real have met with Ferdinand's agent Pini Zahavi in recent weeks, with the 26-year-old being lined up as the next Galactico.

Real are still trying to construct a watertight defence with last summer's signing - Walter Samuel - on his way out of the Bernabeu after just one season.

Ferdinand has been put forward as the perfect replacement, with Real's director of football Arrigo Sacchi a fan of the stopper.

"Ferdinand is a great player admired by all in football but I don't want to say any more," said Sacchi.

United would not react kindly to any bid from Real for their defensive lynchpin and will hope to resolve the contract issue in the near future in an attempt to quash any rumours about Ferdinand's exit once and for all.

Default Rio's bad time!

Surely Rio will not obtain a place in the starting lineup unless he proves himself.
Also there are Woodgate and Bravo.
However ,if he becomes a galactico ManchesterUnited will really have something to worry about. :skull:

manchester utd would be laughing all the way to andrade's agent if you bought him.

+ ferdinand would walk into your team...better than woodgate and bravo is ****e...+ bravo rarely plays centreback for you....pavon does...and he is ****e compared to rio anyway.

Better to use Samuel than use plenty of money on Rio Ferdinand. Bravo is crap, but Woodgate, Samuel, Pavon and Helguera as backup will be OK. If Samuel leaves, I want a other defender than Rio.

Los Merengues have not been linked with so many defenders. They still have Salgado-Samuel-Helguera-Carlos from last season + Jonathan Woodgate and Carlos Diogo as backup now, who is quality defenders. Pavon is also a OK backup.

But, if Samuel leaves, I want a new top defender, but I think they will perhaps use Helguera-Woodgate then, and buy in a good Sub defender together with Pavon.

Rio Ferdinand is the only one who has been linked with us in the defence. Milito will never come to Madrid because of the summer 2003, and Andrade..personally I dont want him. I think he not will like the bench either.

>> He is

But now Madrid got three quality deffensive midfielders in that position. Thomas Gravesen, Pablo Garcia and Ivan Helguera. Only one of them will have that place. I'm not saying that Helguera sucks, but I think all parts want him continueing in Madrid. So, he can play another season in the defence, if Samuel leave us.

When it comes to midfielders and strikers, plenty of players have been linked with us.

Robinho, Joaquin, Reyes, Vieira, Gerrard to mention the hottest. I hope Figo joins The Reds and that Joaquin/Robinho will replace him. But I think we can see more "shocking" transfers from Lux's side. Who had expected Pablo Garcia and Carlos Diogo?

Its time to build up a team we had two years ago. Players who are hungry for trophys, and players who is good enough for Real Madrid. No doubt that David Beckham can play football, and that he is a good player, but he was bought in for to secure the economy in the future. Remember that in 1999, Real Madrid could been deleted because of debt. Now they've ( Florentino Perez ) build up a team who is the richest footballclub in the world ( without helps from a rich uncle ) and now its time to buy in the right players too. I want Galacticos to Madrid, but not a new Beckham. Now I am hungry for gold again.

>> i'm disagree in that. Real Madrid in 2005 with Lux/Sacci/Gravesen were great. They were top 5 in the world since janaury. They had an impressive stats in La Liga, who is IMO the strongest, even and most difficult league in the world. They won 18-19 matches and lost 1 or 2 under Lux. If the developent keep going, I am positive.

They have buyed in Pablo Garcia ( Osasuna ) Carlos Diogo ( River Plate ) Jonathan Woodgate ( Newcastle ) Walter Samuel ( Roma ) Thomas Gravesen ( Everton ) and Michael Owen ( Liverpool ) the last year. You can't call them Galacticos, well, perhaps Owen. Team workers who I hope fit in next season.

I'm agree that Real Madrid havent perform the last two seasons, but now the economy is secure, and I hope they will start making a good, working team again. If you guys have following Spanish football, you can see that Real Madrid is Superb in 5 years on-row..and then a little break on 2-3 years ( Barca years ) and then they start win tropys again.

Real Madrid won CL in 1998, 2000 and 2002. They won La Liga in 1997, 2001 and 2003 + 7 differentes cups like supercup, kingscup etc.. Since 2003 it have been a stop, and I hope they will soon start winning again. Perhaps they will fail next season..who knows?

I'm going on Vacation now. Later mates!
