Chelsea, Real Madrid agree to transfer truce
Chelsea and Real Madrid have struck an agreement not to rumble eachother's transfer plans.
The two have suffered in the past from paying inflated prices when bidding against each other.
Real Madrid's director of football, Arrigo Sacchi, admitted: "We do not have anything signed with any club about this non-aggressive approach, but it is a good idea to avoid useless wars which only increase the price of the players."
>> Like Real Madrid have with AC Milan. IMO great deal for both parts.

it is indeed a good idea....however things will become inevatebly heated when they both want to sign players at all costs.
the reality is that we will end up winning because real have other big targets...or they will end up winning because they can match us for money but beat us for prestige.

I don't understand these agreements at all. So if Chelsea wants Robinho, they will back down because Real have already made a claim on him, and does that go for every Brazilian? Seems to me the only team benefitting from such an agreement would be the most "popular" team, that being Real Madrid.

Will this stop?
Fair enough .
But this war won't stop.
Real Madrid will find another rival in signing players. Chelsea'll do the same thing too.

Well, the deal is about that Chelsea and Real Madrid not shall start a "cold war"
Real Madrid have hunted Robinho for a long time now, and then Chelsea will not join the race for him. Its not a 100 % deal that they never can go after the same player, but they'll respect with each other.
Real Madrid have the same deal with AC Milan.

Well..today you can find to superpower clubs inside the economic part. The only clubs who can compete with Real Madrid and Chelsea ( Roman ) is AC Milan ( Silvio ) ManUtd ( now Glazer ) and perhaps Barcelona.
For us Real Madrid fans, we're impressed that Real Madrid is independent from a rich uncle, and the same time can compete every single uncle, wage and transfersum.

Real Madrid are ready to go to £35 million after Chelsea opened the bidding for Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard yesterday.
The Blues offered £32 million for the want-away midfielder, but failed to scare off Real Madrid, says the Mirror.
The Spaniards are ready to go to £35m and while Chelsea can beat them on the price, Real can offer Gerrard better personal terms because of their country's less punitive tax regime.
Moving to Madrid would earn Gerrard £160,000 a week - more than double his pay at Liverpool.
Chelsea are unlikely to be willing to go that high, particularly with Frank Lampard and John Terry having clauses in their contracts guaranteeing their wages would be raised to match any other players in the squad.
Both clubs were left with the impression Gerrard wants to join them. Real believe he would prefer to leave England if he walks out on Liverpool, while Chelsea understand Stamford Bridge would be his first choice.
Chief executive Peter Kenyon tabled Chelsea's bid - which would smash the £30m Manchester United paid Leeds for Rio Ferdinand - after a meeting with manager Jose Mourinho.
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry and chairman David Moores talked to Gerrard last night to try to arrange more talks and made him a new offer of around £100,000 a week.
>> £160 000 a-week. Thats just grazy. It was The Mirror who wrote this, so its just probably i rumour. Liverpool will make good money if Real Madrid and Roman starts a bid war. I don't want Gerrard in Madrid for that prize. I'll not start cry if he joins Chelsea. Real Madrid need WINGERS. They need Joaquin/Reyes/Robino.

this is bollocks....real madrid wont pay gerrard more than beckham or zidane.
they dont have 35 million hanging around either as they want joaquin and/or robinho.
so i think its safe to say this is a story to help sell papers not reflect the truth.

Well, IMO even Gerrard is not worth that mutch either, and I think Sacci/Perez knows that.
Actually, its official that Madrid have £75 million to use on players next season.

hmmm....interesting..
well it would cost at least 15 million for robinho..
at least 25 for joaquin and at least 30 for gerrard.
a minimum of 70....but chelsea will inevitably offer more for gerrard...so if it goes above 35 you will probably not want to compete...unless you abandon joaquin.

Well, Real Madrid shall not have both Joaquin and Robinho + Figo is still in the club :/ However, Gerrard is a good player, no doubt, but he is not worth so mutch money. Real Madrid have money for him, but they wont start a bid war with Chelsea. Its official.
But, the situation will be different if Gerrard wants Madrid move and that Liverpool wants to send him to a other league. Remember that Liverpool and Real Madrid are good friends.

This will be the shortest truce ever, once bidding begins for the foreheadless one.
