Default Rodriguez poised to leave Rangers

Quote:
Rangers defender Julien Rodriguez has revealed that he may return to France as part of a January exodus from Ibrox.

The Frenchman has slipped out of manager Paul le Guen's first team plans recently, and Marseille are favourites to sign the former Monaco captain.

He said: "Marseille have contacted me a few times, but some reasons made a transfer impossible. They are looking for a defender so I am open to them."

Ex-Rangers boss Alex McLeish signed Rodriguez from Monaco for £1m in 2005.
The defender - who has made 16 appearances this season - is also attracting interest from Rennes, Nantes and Nice.

In recent weeks Le Guen has stuck with the central defensive partnership of Karl Svensson and Brahim Hemdani, with Sasa Papac also challenging, leaving Rodriguez on the fringes.

Although the 28-year-old played in the Uefa Cup victory over Partizan Belgrade on 14 December, he has not started an SPL game for the Glasgow club since the 1-1 draw with Motherwell on 28 October.

Therefore, Le Guen may well opt to offload Rodriguez along with a number of others, such as Gavin Rae, and goalkeeper Lionel Letizi, in the January transfer window.

He makes too many mistakes but I think he's better than Svensson, tbh.
