That would be Alen Marcina, lead scorer with 13 goals in 27 games, and third in the league last season, his been considers as a possible addition for the Canadian MNT. His a player that i would honestly say is above USL Div 1 lvl,, we where lucky on holding him for another season.

Well it seams that we now got our very own Englishman Neil Emblen ex Millwal, Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton now will be playing in the islanders midfield, he had a good game yesterday.

The other big signing is Goran Vujanovic a croatian and former Oliampiakos and NK Rijeka, he dint play in yesterdays game but he probably will in tomorrows.

Islanders add three more to their roster and let go one.

As foward Alen Marcina leaves the squad, foward/defensive midfielder John Krause, Canadian defender Jared Montz and Peruvian foward Jorge Eduardo "Loverita" Ramirez are encorporated into the team all three players have shown a positive result in the Islanders double header at Miami.

Also romurs has it that english foward Taiwo Leo Atieno and Brazilian ex-Islander midfielder Juninho may join the squad in the near future.

This was taken from the local newspaper "El Nuevo Dia":

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Islanders have signed 21 year old English striker Taiwo Leo Atieno, who cames from playing in the English League One. This continuous the trend of players signings that has taken the focus off the Latin American players that the team has been known for. This change in strategy and playing style come from the new coach North Irish Colin Clarke. It also states that there are some other changes in the line up in the future, the Islanders president states that the are other clubs involve in this changes.

PR Islanders and Montreal Impact reach a trade agreement

2007-06-14
PR Islanders FC

BAYAMON, PR – Montreal Impact and the PR Islanders have concluded a trade, pending League approval, that will send Lars Lyssand and other considerations to Puerto Rico in exchange for Alen Marcina. The considerations are to be kept confidential.
The Puerto Rico Islanders and Montreal Impact have reached an agreement whereby the PR Islanders will acquire Lars Lyssand, who will round-out an outstanding back-line being structured by new Head Coach, Colin Clarke, and the Impact will receive forward Alen Marcina, Canadian National, who will try to reinforce their offense.
Under the helms of Coach Clarke, the Islanders offense has been consistently improving as shown from this past weekend's dominance over Miami FC in Tropical Park with six (6) goals in two matches. Marcina did not make the trip in contemplation of the on-going negotiations between the franchises, which ended in Montreal ceding its rights over Lyssand and committing other undisclosed considerations to the Islanders.

At the same time, the Puerto Rico Islanders managed to sign an international striker, 21 year old Taiwo Leo Atieno, a British National who very recently came to try-out by invitation from Coach Clarke. Atieno is a 6' 2", explosive forward that will definitely get fan attention as soon as eligible on the active roster, once registration procedures (including International Transfer to PR Federation) and immigration matters are duly completed.

These new additions will certainly, as Coach Clarke has stated "put us on the right tract towards the championship".

Puerto Rico fans are anxiously expecting 2006 champs, Vancouver Whitecaps, who will visit "La Islandera" in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, on Sunday June 24th.
