News flash, PR buying to host group for the CFU Champions Cup, my sources close to the FPF and the Islanders tell me that recently the FPF send a petition to COCACAF asking to be able to host a group in the CFUCC, even do i am doutfull that they will receive that commision, the best indevorse are does that are taken not does that are not, so good luck to my boys in the orange and the blue in getting that. Also that de CFU is orginaly planning to play all the CFUCC games in T&T, but as stated above the islaners want to host their group down in their home field in PR, more money and local fans for them. They CFU is planning to play the Cup during dicember.

Islanders to play in CONCACAF Champions Cup Qualifying
Puerto Rico a host in Caribbean group play

Puerto Rico Islanders News Release - www.islandersfc.org

Tuesday, November 7, 2006

BAYAMON, PR -- The Puerto Rico Islanders are among fifteen Caribbean soccer clubs set to battle for the Caribbean berth of the 2007 CONCACAF Champions Cup this coming December. The Islanders will host Group C of the first qualifying round from December 8th to the 14th at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon, PR.

The Islanders, who advanced to the USL First Division playoffs for the first time in their third season in 2006, will face Fruta Conquerors of Guyana, W. Connection of Trinidad & Tobago, and Hoppers FC of Antigua in group play. It is the first time ever that Puerto Rico will host CONCACAF Champions Cup matches.

Groups A and B will take place in Jamaica, while US Virgin Islands will host Group D. The first round group winners will advance to the semifinals, to be completed before 31 December, at a venue of one of the semifinalist clubs.

The Caribbean Tournament Champion will be joined at the 2007 CONCACAF Champions’ Cup by the 2006 Mexican League Torneo de Apertura (TBD) and Clausura (Pachuca CF) winners; two USA squads (DC United & TBD); and three Central American teams (CD Olímpia of Honduras, Puntarenas FC of Costa Rica, and TBD).

The CONCACAF Champions Cup is the longest running international club competition in the region and has crowned the champion club of the Confederation since its inception in 1962.

The Puerto Rico Islanders look to represent the United Soccer Leagues (USL) well in this tournament and already many of the players have been called back up to join training sessions in preparation for these important upcoming matches.

The team will hold a press conference later this month regarding the details of its participation in the tournament.

Part of the Islanders line up for the CFU Champions Cup was realesed, returning to the team will be:
Alen Marcina
John Queeley
Mauricio Segovia
Alejandro González
Noah Delgado
Petter Villegas
Edwin Miranda
Terry Boss
Milton Blanco
Marco Vélez
Raphel ‘Mime’ Ortiz
Alexis Rivera

New to the team: (Both from the portland timbers)
Byron Álvarez
Yuri Morales

Now this is not the full roster, but what scares me is that theres no anouncements about Dan Kennedy our star goaly and other player like Piette or Schelleto (who is in argentina trying to get signed to a team there but will make his desicion about leaving the islanders in Jan). We will have to wait until Nov 20 whene the full roster will be announced.

he use to leave in North Bergen, and later played for the Metrostars

Ok im back, sorry for the long wait, heres the scoop in a nut shell

Islanders anounce CFUCC Squad:

Returning to the team are:
Terry Boss
Mauricio Segovia
Marco Velez
Jon Queely
Rafael "El Mime" Ortiz
Edwin Miranda
Noah Delgado
Alejandro Gonzales
Peter Villegas
Isaac "Saito" Nieves

Newcomers are:
Edvar Limage (Haiti)
Giacobi Goodfellow (USA)
Yuri Morales (USA)
Leslie "Tiger" Fitzpatrick (T&T)
Victor Herrera (Panama)
Alberto Zapata (Panama)
Carlos Torres Nieves (PR)
David Jhonson (USA)
Byron Alvarez (USA-Mex)
Gustavo Avila (Panama)
Nico Marcina (Canada)

Still in the works or injuries:
Alexis Rivera

Most of the new player are midfielders, with the exception of Zapata (forward) and Limage (Goalie). With the slew of young player that DT Rojas has compiled it seem he is choosing to play a more faster game that he traditionally uses for the Islanders.

Mauricio Segovia and Edvar Limage our out on injures they got wail practicing so its not clear if they can be their for the first game.

Also our star goalie Dan Kennedy has been put on the roster just in case. But his not in the island due to prior engagements.

Fruta Conquerors forfeit because of financial problems so the games are as seen below:

Saturday 9th
Islanders (PUR) vs. Hoppers (ANT) 8:00 pm

Monday 11th
Hoppers (ANT) vs. W. Connection (TRI) 8:00 pm

Wednesday 13th
W. Connection (TRI) vs. Islanders (PUR) 8:00 pm
