Police set to swoop on two more players
Quote:
Two more Premier League stars are in line to be arrested by City of London Police probing corruption in football.
After last Monday's stunning arrest of Tottenham defender Pascal Chimbonda, the two players, both internationals, are on a four-man hit-list of people due to be brought in for questioning in the coming weeks.
The other two individuals are also high profile figures in British football.
None of the four can be named for legal reasons, but when and if their identities are revealed, it will send shockwaves through a game already stunned by the Chimbonda affair.
The focus of the police investigation is said to be more on tax evasion and money-laundering than bungs, but one of the players and the two offpitch figures likely to be pulled in are of interest because of their involvement in deals which fell within the Quest probe into two years of Premier League transfers. The other player changed clubs outside the scope of the Premier League investigation.
While police are keen to make a distinction, it is believed that information shared by Quest is playing an important role in past and future arrests.
