He was a very good player, but with a crap attitude. He's had a few problems with Jesualdo, let's see if it doesn't fuck him up in England, they are a lot more strict..
Bosingwa can develop into a world class RB, he is still young. In terms of tackling he is IMO one of the top offensive full-backs in the world.
Chelsea or Utd would both be good for him, and I honestly was expecting him to join Utd, but, he's agreed a deal with Chelsea already so..
20m € is a good fee, we can get someone for a lot less. I'm hoping we bring back Paulo Ferreira!
Good luck Bosingwa.

What's going on here?
Wiki says:
"However on the May 10 a Porto Spokesman has claimed that Porto have agreed an initial price with Manchester United for the right back, however it is all subject to medical and the final dealings of the contract will be sorted out after Euro 2008."
José Bosingwa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I know wiki talks a lot of crap but there's no news of Chelsea joining the chase for Bosingwa ANYWHERE in England. How official/likely is it?

Wiki :S
Jornal O Jogo is very reliable for done deals. They were the first to report Pepe, Anderson and Nani deals.
Maisfutebol has also reported this as a done deal.
I believe its going to happen

Chelsea close on Bosingwa
Portuguese to spurn United in favour of Blues switch
Quote:
Chelsea have beaten Manchester United to the signature of Jose Bosingwa, according to reports emerging in Portugal.
The talented Porto full-back has demonstrated in the UEFA Champions League over the past few seasons that he is one of the continent's finest in his position.
And it is such performances that have not gone unnoticed across Europe, with Manchester United thought to have been leading the race to acquire his services.
However, it has now come to light that Chelsea are desperate to add the player to their ranks and have stolen a march on their Premier League rivals.
A fee of €20million (£15.8million) is thought to have been concurred between Porto and Chelsea, with Bosingwa to pen a five-year deal with the West London club.
Portuguese press are reporting that an announcement could be made as early as Monday, with Bosingwa having elected not to make any comment this weekend as to where his future may lie.

Well reports in England are the same as the ones in Portugal....gd signing for us.
Better than paying 40mill euros for for Dani Alves.

20m for 80% of Bosingwa's rights.. Great deal if you ask me.
He is a very good player, but we can't say no to 20m €, specially when we don't even own 100% of the players' rights. But, I want Paulo Ferreira in return.
Good luck Bosingwa!

Bosingwa will sign a 5 year deal. It should be finalized tomorrow, after both english and portuguese leagues are over.
:.: Jornal Record :.:
And according to the same article, Rui Reno still owns the 20% of Bosingwa's rights.

Who wants to come to Portugal though?
Porto can offer CL, but that's pretty much it, our best paid player earns probably as much as Bayern's worst paid player. Our salary cap is around 100,000 € per month.
I don't think we can attract any world class established players, we'll probably go for someone in our league or from Argentina.

If you can't get a good signing, then why sell those good players you have? :/
You think Porto can repeat the 2004 success any time soon?

Well, pretty much all players in the world want to play in the 3 big leagues and the portuguese players are no exception. If we don't let them go at any point, they'll just get unsettled and won't play so well anymore.
Also, all portuguese clubs have major debts, Porto are the wealthiest club in Portugal, but have a debt of around 90m €.
Once we clear out the debt, then maybe we can start attracting better players, by increasing the salary cap or we can afford to not let our best players go.
Not sure you've noticed, but ever since 2004, we haven't sold more than 2 starters per season. 2 years ago it was McCarthy and Diego; last season it was Anderson and Pepe; this season it was Bosingwa, and now one of Quaresma/Lucho/P.Assunçao. I bet on Quaresma to leave.
As for winning CL again, I very much doubt it, because we just can't keep our best players more than 2/3 seasons in a row.. If we hadn't sold our starters over the years, I imagine our XI would be something like:
.........................Helton
Bosingwa....Pepe...Carvalho....P.Ferreira
.....................P.Assunçao
..........Lucho................Maniche
..........................Deco
...........Quaresma.......Lisandro
With the likes of Nuno Valente, Bruno Alves, McCarthy and Costinha missing out.
^ That team would be a major CL contender IMO.
