Default Hugo Viana opening some eyes at Newcastle

I will agree for Viana to go back with only one condition to be used at his position, if he was playing like his doing know he would have made Euro 04, instead when he arrived in Portugal he was beat men, our worst player at the Olympics, but his happy again and having a solid season for Portugal and Sporting

Sporting probably doesn't have the money to buy him and Newcastle are already talking about bring him back for next season. I expect to see him back in England next season:

Newcastle United chairman Freddy Shepherd has hinted that midfielder Hugo Viana might still have a future at St James' Park.

The 22-year-old Portuguese is currently out on loan at former club Sporting Lisbon and has impressed enough to earn a call-up to the national team squad for the friendly against the Republic of Ireland.

Shepherd told The Journal: "We are all well aware that Hugo is having a good season in Portugal and Graeme (Souness) is keen to have another look at him.

"He will approach the situation with an open mind and with no pre-conceived ideas.

"Hugo Viana is a very talented player and we paid a lot of money to bring him to Newcastle. We would be foolish not to have a look at him again before a decision is made."

Viana is a real talent, wasn't even given the chance under Robson.
And I doubt Souness will give him that chance.

Viana was a real talent. He played enough under SIR Bobby to show that he was the right man for The Magpies... but he failed.

I'm 90 % sure that Viana not have a future at tyneside, and I hope we sell him for some good money. He was expensive, and we all can see that he don't fit in. He is not good enough if N'castle will win something.

IMO off curse!

Hugo Viana does want to go back, he wants to play in the CL next season, how can he passed that
3 portuguese teams in the European CL first time ever,

Thanks to Porto's CL success last year, Portugal has gained enough coefficient points to get another team into the group stage of the CL. The Portuguese league champs and runners up will get a group stage spot each, and the third place team gets a spot in the qualifying round.

Portugal awarded extra Champions League place for 2005-06

LONDON, Feb 11 (Reuters) - Two Portuguese clubs will qualify automatically for the group stage of next season's Champions League as a result of Porto's triumph in the competition last May, UEFA announced on Friday.

The incentive will add even more spice to this season's Portuguese title race, the closest for many years, with the top five of Porto, Benfica, Braga, Sporting Lisbon and Boavista separated by just two points with 14 matches to play.

This season's Portuguese champions and runners-up will both enter the group stage while the third-placed team will enter the competition in the third qualifying round.

Greece lose a direct entry with only their champions going into the competition proper and the runners-up starting at the third qualifying round stage.

The entry criteria is based on a nation's UEFA coefficient standings, which take into account the performance of all clubs from each country in European competition over a five-year period.

As the Czech Republic have overtaken Scotland in the list, their champions will go directly into the group stage, while Scotland's champions and runners-up will enter the competition at the third and second qualifying rounds respectively.

There is no change in the top five positions with the champions and runners-up from Spain, England, Italy, Germany and France all going into the group stage automatically.

The third and fourth placed teams from Spain, England and Italy will enter at the third qualifying round stage, while the third-placed clubs from Germany, France and Portugal will also enter at that stage.

Viana is a good player but he doesn't want to play for us any more, and Lisbon are too tight to give us our money back so there's going to be a problem next season unless Lisbon cough up.
