The back line was quite poor yesterday I'm afraid...Meira made 3 really bad errors and Valente was off the pace...Miguel and Carvalho looked good, but the communication isn't there yet....Iran could and should have scored 2.
Equally, the midfield didn't help out, Scolari MUST sort out who his central midfield is to get understanding.

Carvalho is possibly one of the most underrated players ever, he is quick, reads the game, good in the air, everything you would want from a defender and more. Would get into any team in the world (Bar Chelsea when Gallas and Terry are there) and definately deserves his place in the Portugal side

We are assessing the performance of the defence, not the Iranina strikers.

Should they wear headsets? hanuma
I understand you assetment, But I think Meira is not comfortable in that spot and it takes more games to gel as a unit.
I think Carvalho/Ferreira tandem is better.

Very interesting...Don't forget what an amazing job Ferreira did on Ronaldinho this season too....he just stopped him dead at Stamford Bridge and he even managed to keep Messi quiet as a left back for 40 minutes.

Paulo Ferreira is on the bench due to his shy personality. I think he is decent, But I like Meira to be given a chance.
Like I said, Tinker the line up, you moron Scolari. Play Ronaldo at centre and help Pauleta score goals.

i respect your opinion and soccer knowledge but i think your comments here are bogus!
Ronaldo: winger who excels in moving the ball up feild by gettng by defenders, never a pure scorer like pauleta.
we only have probably the best attacking centre mid in the world already in deco. what good is it having ronaldo standing beside pauleta upfront where he wont be able to get any touches either? 1 pauleta is enough
Scolari: Best coach in the world, fucking genious! this team would be playing for third place in the group if oliveira was still the coach.

I can tell your a big Fan of his Coaching, But I'm not. I think the guy has to tinker the lineup to see portugals Full Potential.
As For Ronaldo, I think the wings is his comfort Zone and you can tell he creates more chances. But , I think If he was placed as a Striker or complementing Pauleta , He would score more goals.
This is my opinion....But I guess it doesn't mean shite

Ricardo Carvalho was the only defender that played well today.

A DEFINITON OF A GOOD DEFENDER:
1. Someone who plays there man and distinctively marks there spot.
2. Plays the ball accordingly to the passes and prepares For an Attack.
3. Helps the goalie out in key situations.
4. Clears the ball when needed.
Ricardo Carvalho, Jorge Andrade, Paulo Ferreira, Miguel are the epitomy of these comments.

Meira is good but he is no Andrade. I thought he stumbled at times when marking his man.
