his expensively assembled squad, and believes he can bring the title to Stamford Bridge.
"I believe 100 percent that we can win the title, but I am not so stupid to say that I can guarantee that we will win it," said Mourinho.
"Then again, I want to win everything and maximise what Chelsea can achieve.
"I believe we have to go for every trophy. I am always confident and I always trust my players and team.
"I am nervous, but I never sit back and think that I have done everything.
"If we win this game against United, we are not champions - and if we lose, we are not out of the championship either."
Chelsea take on Manchester United in a mouth-watering opening day clash, giving Mourinho a baptism of fire in England.
United have a number of injury concerns, but Mourinho has no sympathy for Sir Alex Ferguson and says that The Red Devils a more than capable of coping.
"Do not tell me that they have nine key players missing. They have some injured players, that is it," says Mourinho.
"The difference between the top teams and other sides is that the top teams have great squads.
"If Harry Redknapp had five players out at Portsmouth, then that may be a problem, but that cannot be said of Manchester United.
"It is not a big problem for them."

Mourinho hits back, 14 players were playing with the national teams
Mourinho rounds on critics of Chelsea style
By Clare Lovell
HARLINGTON, England, Aug 20 (Reuters) - A prickly Jose Mourinho hit back at critics of his multi-million dollar Chelsea side's style on Friday, saying he deserved more respect.
"Some people are protected by their status as ex-players," the Portuguese manager said after a training session at the Premier League club's ground near Heathrow Airport.
"In the same way I'm a European champion and until a new European champion arrives...I think I deserve a little bit of respect."
Chelsea's new-look side, to which Mourinho has added more than 70 million pounds ($127.8 million) worth of players since he took over in June, were criticised in the British press for defensive tactics after going 1-0 up 15 minutes into their match against Manchester United last Sunday.
"We are in a free country. Everybody has his opinion and everybody can write or say what they want," said Mourinho, who won the UEFA Cup and Champions League in successive seasons with Porto.
"But my personality is not open to being influenced by critics," he said, adding he was lucky to have arrived as a successful manager because it enabled him to withstand criticism.
Mourinho said he would adapt his tactics to the opposition but had had little opportunity to prepare his side for Saturday's match at Birmingham City because several players had been away on international duty this week.
PREPARATION BY VIDEO
Most of Chelsea's first team squad are internationals, playing for 14 different countries.
"They arrived back just in time to recover to play tomorrow," he said. "Next week they go for two international matches so I won't have them for 12 days -- after that I have to play (Aston) Villa and then Champions League," he said.
Most of the preparation for Birmingham, where Chelsea winger and defender Jesper Gronkjaer and Mario Melchiot transferred last month, had been done by watching videos of their performances, he said.
Striker Mikael Forsell, on loan from Chelsea to City, was not eligible to play.
Chelsea will be without Netherlands midfielder Arjen Robben, who injured an ankle during the side's pre-season U.S. tour, and Adrian Mutu, who received a knock after scoring for Romania in Wednesday's 2-1 World Cup qualifying victory over Finland.
Mourinho watched another Chelsea striker, Eidur Gudjohnsen, score for Iceland in their shock friendly victory over Italy.
The Chelsea manager said he planned to get to know the international coaches of his players by paying visits during matches over the next few months.
"We have something in common -- the players. I want to know everything about them when they are there (at internationals) and it is important the coaches know everything about my players," he

Mourinho warns of a tough group
Quote:
The whole football world is no doubt curious to know José Mourinho’s thoughts on drawing the club he took to the height of European success in the new season’s Champions League. However rather than focus on Porto alone, the Chelsea boss is keen to look at Group H as a whole.
Speaking exclusively to Chelsea TV he said: "I think it is always a motivation to play against the big teams and we have got the European champions so I think it is a motivation for us.
“I think it will be two great matches at Stamford Bridge for the first one and in Porto for the second one where there is a beautiful stadium and a beautiful crowd. But the group is really difficult.
“We also have CSKA, they have a style of play which is never easy. They beat Glasgow Rangers and now they have in Russia some economic circumstances so they can buy players from other parts of Europe and South America.
“And also with PSG they had a great season last year and they have bought some great players. So I think it is a very strong group."
That sentiment was echoed by Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon, in Monaco where the draw was made.
He said: “My first reaction was that overall it’s a tough group. And having spoken with José that was his impression too. The outcome of facing Porto was always a possibility and we're guaranteed to see two great games there.
“But there are no easy matches at this level. We won't be taking anything for granted and the manager will do his homework as he always does! I feel we're well equipped as a club, with an experienced squad and a manager capable of achieving success.”
Chelsea begin our attempt to surpass last season’s semi-final appearance with a trip to the Parc des Princes in Paris on Tuesday September 14th. Then it’s back-to-back home games against Porto on Wednesday September 29th and CSKA Moscow on Wednesday 20th October. All our home games are on Wednesday and all the aways Tuesday.
The return match in Moscow follows straight away on Tuesday November 2nd and then we play hosts to PSG on Wednesday November 24th. The group stage is completed with an away game as Chelsea’s Portuguese contingent return home. We visit Porto on Tuesday December 7th.

Mourinho tell's Terry his a winner and worth every penny
Mourinho: «Terry é inspirador»
"John [Terry] chegou no momento certo. É um futebolista inspirador no sentido em que se trata de um vencedor. Demos-lhe um contrato incrível e já lhe disse que ele merece todos os cêntimos que ganha. O nosso objectivo é chegar à última jornada como campeões mas manter a liderança é importante. Para mim, estar na frente significa menos pressão, pois assim apenas pensamos em nós."

Coelho rebuffs Chelsea
Chelsea, Monday November 29 2004
Portuguese teen midfielder Nuno Coelho has rebuffed Chelsea to sign with Porto.
Benfica, Porto and Chelsea led a host of European outfits interested in acquiring the Sporting da Covilha starlet.
The 17-year-old decided to sign with last year's European champions this week.
Coelho told Sky Sports: "I accepted it because it was the best offer for me and for Covilha.
"We have waited to see which would be the best of all.
"I am going for a new life, because I will live in Oporto. It is a sacrifice I have to make, but that is what I have to do for my career."

I think it's a good move by him. Chelsea has so much depth that it would be years before he ever got to see first team action. Felipe Oliveira and Nuno Morais would probably be starting on a Superliga team right now.

Mourinho is Our's
Mourinho achievement can only be match by Figo winning the World Football player award
http://www.record.pt/noticia.asp?id=624789&idCanal=473
Mourinho is Our's
Mourinho nosso

Good manager. The Benfica directors might be kicking themselves (again) for letting Ze go.
