TODAY'S GAMES (last day):
FINAL
21:30 Spain - Switzerland (TVE)
3rd / 4th places
18:45 Portugal - Italy (RTPi)
As it was predicted, Portugal was beaten by Spain in half-finals. !-5 seams to be a bad result. And yes, it was a bad result. But in rink-hockey, numbers can fake. the 3 first goals of Spain were scored in counter-attacs, in 3 minutes. Something that was only possible due to the lack of experience (tactically speacking) of portuguese players. I think the result was fair, but POrtugal could play better. In roller hockey, the fact that Sergio Silva, for example, misses a goal in the first minutes, changed the "course of history"...
In the other game, Switzerland proved to all that the defeat by 0-7 against Portugal was just a bad day for them. Yesterday, Swiss men (young players) started better, but Switzerland scored twice. In the mid 2nd half, Italy tied 2-2. Switzerland are not so bad as some think. They were winning during a couple of minutes!
In the extra-time, Italy paid for what happened some days ago, when they didn't wabnt to beat Austria (4-0)... and they stricked Switzerland cage without sucess!!!
In the penalties, the Swiss hadn't the pression of spectactors, and were lucky. As a result, Italy was beaten by 3-5. Federico Stagi, the Italian goalkeeper, couldn't do nothing.
Today, Swiss men will play the first final since 1937 (!), against the powerful Spain. I bet Spain will win easily, but Switzerand enterd in the history of this year championship. This position is a result of more than 10 years of work of some portuguese and spanish coaches in that country, were the majority of players are amateurs!
The 3rd / 4th places game will be the time for portuguese to show that they are better, and Italy will not beet us, I hope...
Have a great week-end, all! 8)

RH- Portugal -5-Italia - finish with bronze medal
you can't ask more from the portuguese babies, they finish in 3rd on a team with 7 new faces out of 10 players, a lot of talent coming up
Italia got what he deserve after avoiding to score against Austria, were beaten yesterday at home by the Swiss, and today by the portuguese, Swiss are playing in the final vs Spain
Switzerland lost to Portugal 12-0 on the Group play

RH - Spain European Champion
surprise they only beat Switzerland in the final by the score of 2-0, we did beat Switzerland 12-0 in Group play
but got give a lot merit to Switzerland, they are a upcoming nation, and they will host next year world cup, they have something to build on after winning the silver medal
the favorite nations for the world cup will be Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Italia, and then will have a second tier with Switzerland, Angola, Mozambique, Brasil, USA,

This Boycott of Benfica is a very sad new
As you all imagine, I'am very sad, but I have to say that I understand what is going on... many clubs are revolted due to Federation taxes... rink-hockey still a spectacular game, But i think it is being not good directed...
Anyway, the new season is on the "warm up".
Yhis year,, we are going to have play-off, for the first time in many years.
My predition is that FC Porto will have an easy "reguar phase", maybe the 1st place with no defeats...
SL Benfica, OC Barcelos and JUventude de Viana will fight for the 1st half of the table, with Barcelos and Benfica with 2 great teams, but both with not many ex+perienced players. I mean... Benfica still need to present a player... and it will happen 16 August :P
To be in the play-off, in the 5th to 8th places, I bet that OLiveirense (many changes, but the same "inicial 5"), Candelária (Without Pedro Alves, who moved to Spain), POrtosantense (although the financial dificulties) will be in Play-off for sure.
The historic Gulpilhares and Paço de Arcos will fight for the "manutenção", with young players, but valourous. Cambra, and the 4 promoted teams - Física de Torres, Valongo, Sintra and JUventude Ouriense will have hard days on 1st division...
Hope next season I can help you, Franck, updating this thread... but I doubt it, because I will be many times on pavillions
