Frank, I'm with you but supporting the portugal team and Canadian NT, it sucks that were not progressing.
Our first team is doing well because we have a good coach in Scolari and players who are prepared and willing to lay it all on the line. I'm not saying the kids don't have heart but what I saw at the U20 was disgusting.
How can you have a dominate 1st match then lose three in a row in that fashion.
If it's the coach then fire his ass. I want to see improvement cause you already know what I fear is that Portugal will be the country that produces so much great talent but can't win shite.

the goal of the Youth national teams is to build players for the A team, and I see a few bright spots
I like the keeper Rui Patricio
Mano played well, until he got red carded
Antunes
Coentrao
Pele
Condesso
just the striker position, been our killer

That just proves without Ronaldo we can't do shit. We rely on ronaldo too much this was the tournament where the young kids, Nani etc were supposed to get their shine but instead they stunk it up like all youth tournaments in recent years except for the U17 euro.
Saying Italy got lucky on penalties doesnt do any good. We should've finished in the top two places instead of relying on england to win so we could get a 4th spot to the olympics.

Firce Couceiro he is a bum. Don't forget we "dominated" agaisnt NEW ZEALAND but couldn't score from open play.
We have talent at the youth levels but the coaching and preparation is lacking.

EXACTAMUNDO
You are right on the money. Something needs to be done. Let's take the same approach as the Argies cause there doing something right.
Is that means hiring a foreign coach from Holland then so be it.

I'm just proving a point. If we have to scout elsewhere then do it.
Simao 20 hit it on the head, it's the lack of mental preparation and mentoring these kids. Ronaldo is a superstar today because he has skills but his drive and determination. Players like FC show to much selfishness to do it themselves -- If were going to win, it's by teamwork.
I wanna see titles. I don't want us to always stink in tourneys and not show the heart that Chile has in the U20.

So how do we produce high class strikers????
It's about the development. Get a player willing to want to play that position.

To me the only two I can think of at the moment are Gama and Paim. All the rest just seem to have subsided.
