A Selecção Nacional aterrou hoje às 19h10 locais (18h10 em Portugal) na Bélgica, país que terá como adversário no sábado, no sétimo jogo do Grupo A de qualificação para o Campeonato da Europa 2008, na Áustria e Suíça. Depois de uma viagem tranquila e já com Antunes no lugar de Marco Caneira, lesionado, a equipa das quinas chegou ao aeroporto de Bruxelas e rapidamente rumou à unidade hoteleira escolhida, já que o único treino em solo belga se realiza apenas na sexta-feira (17 horas locais), no Estádio Rei Balduíno, palco da decisiva partida. Com Nani, naturalmente, como alvo de todos os olhares, Portugal joga sábado (20h45 locais) no estádio onde, há quase sete anos, perdeu um lugar na final do Euro’2000, por culpa de um malfadado toque na bola da mão esquerda de Abel Xavier. A grande penalidade assinalada por Gunter Benko e transformada aos 117 minutos (prolongamento) por Zinedine Zidane colocou Portugal fora da final e os franceses com a mão praticamente na Taça. A selecção comandada pelo brasileiro Luiz Felipe Scolari venceu já a Bélgica neste Grupo A de qualificação para o Euro’2008 (4-0, em Alvalade, com bis de Ronaldo e golos de Nuno Gomes e Quaresma), naquela que foi a primeira vitória oficial sobre a equipa de Rene Vandereicken. Portugal apenas por uma vez venceu a Bélgica em sua casa e nunca em jogos “a sério”: esse único triunfo conta já mais de 43 anos (2-1, com golos de Eusébio e José Augusto, a 3 de Maio de 1964, no estádio do Heysel).
